Awful.

Still have B6 on my e90, and was still in Brooklyn for 5 years with it.
Awful.

You need stock NON SPORT suspension in NYC. Period.

I've moved since, and am keeping B6s, but they are rough.
This sounds like practical advice.

I have first hand experience. They are great when you push the car. But how often does one seriously push these cars? You'd be arrested or dead before you even got near the limits of a stock car, nevermind one with a better set of shocks.

You have clearly never driven in the mountains of NC and TN. The last time I was there I found out what it means when tires "get greasy."

But I get you. The whole reason I bought the E93 was to ease away from the "sports car" ride quality my other toys enjoy. I just didn't want to ease away too far. My car has sport suspension and needs new shocks; I may very well go with factory spec replacements.

Well, I've got some news for you...I clearly have driven those roads and know full well what it means when a tire gets greasy.
But unless you live there, you aren't pushing it like that everyday. And many of those roads are pretty smooth....
NYC or north east? Forget it. They're shot roads and having a super tight suspension makes the car exhausting to drive, and downright irritating for passengers.
Here's your proof...just one of many from many many trips...disclaimer: I was flying here...I had just passed the Subaru not 30 feet back at high speed...

Don't mean to pirate this thread but don't want to start another thread for similar info, anyone with B4s that have lowered the car? I would like to maintain the stock ride characteristics (concerned like the OP about the tri-state roads) as much as possible but bring it down an .5-1 inch. Especially in the front.

If so what springs are you running with B4s or similar stock/strut?

I am running an e90 335i with factory sport suspension.

I've had FSDs on my 06 330i Non-Sport for a year now and live in Brooklyn, they ride nicely (not really a hard driver though I have my moments) and don't take away from road feel. I had considered the B4s but my mechanic talked me into the FSDs and I'm glad I listened.
