I know this is an old thread but my local indie shop was able to come up with a solution.

The only current solution, which most guys running those brakes have done, is to weld the 335 parking brake outer shoe onto the 328i inner shoe guts.

In conclusion Rocco was able to source an OEM rotor for the rear that once some machining was done to get the perfect fit bolted right up. |

Part number for rotor, and what part(s) need to be machined?

PN: 34206797598 which is a 345mm x 24mm rotor that fits the e9x 328i parking brakes. When I researched this swap I couldn’t find any other rotors that were a good fit as a starting point. The only issue is machining them down that much throws off the balance. Supposedly the discs are balanced by removing material from the outer edges when they are produced and if you do major machining like removing 20mm off the outer diameter you will throw the balance off. I would love to be wrong on this and find out there’s a proper plug and play rotor. I did a lot of searching and couldn’t find any route better than the parking brake weld.

As I said guys I am not a tech I don't challenge DIY's I reach out the people who know what they are doing I am sorry I don't know what the part numbers are I didn't really dive into specifics I was so happy that everything worked and appeared to look like a factory fit that it wasn't on my mind. I bought the rotors from RMP Motors as I've stated you are more than welcomed to reach out them for specifics or to buy the rotors directly from them and save the headache like I did.

Coming back to this, read through it as best I could. Doesn't seem to me that there is an easy solution to fitting the rear 135i brakes onto a 328i?
I have 2011 e91 in need of brakes soon and want to retrofit this brake system, any help is sincerely appreciated! |
