Nice looking car the mods are going well. I also came over to BMW after VW Pissrat B6 ownership (worst car experience of my life mainly down to VW themselves and piss poor design/build)

18's are fine, no bad ride or handling issues. I wouldn't go for 19's though, i think it's a step too far.

I enjoyed my B6, it was a reliable car, and it's still going strong for the new owner (it passed its latest MOT this week with 170,000 miles & no issues).

Awesome progress! These cars are great - doesn't matter if it's a 318d or 335d - build is solid!
Btw - that steering wheel looks just amazing!! Love the fact it's new! I do have a bit of OCD. Keep us updated! |

So a long overdue update. I still have the E90, and whilst I still occasionally have thoughts about F10's and (more recently) F01's, I don't see this car going anywhere anytime soon.
The winter tyres have been superb, but I cant wait to get my 18in BBS CK alloys back on there now. I'm waiting for now though as temperatures are still pretty chilly here in the UK. Some track day news - I will be doing a MSV track day soon, either at Brands Hatch or Bedford. I've done Brands a few times, and love it. I've never done Bedford, so any advice would be appreciated. But before that I will be sorting my brakes. I had made up my mind to do a 330d conversion, and that may happen still. Wheel update - I'm currently running winter tyres on the original Efficient Dynamics alloys. I have bought a set of X1 17in steel wheels, so will be putting 225/45-17 winter tyres on there, and as I run the BBS CK 18's the rest of the year, I can do bigger brakes. Again, all feedback welcome. Specifically I would appreciate some recommendations of disc & pad types. I will do braided hoses anyhow & a fluid refresh. So, most recent updates... strut brace fitted today: And some pedals: My old ones: The new ones: That's all for now. Plenty of stuff planned over the next few months... |

Some jobs today. First off I fitted the 330d back box. This was straightforward - almost easy! Just awkward though. This is purely an aesthetic job as there's no sound difference. I had to fit an extra hanger, but it's the same one specified with the Performance exhaust.
Before: After: Next I swapped over my winter wheels/tyres for my summer set. So nice having these back on. Winters (before): Summers (after). BBS CK 8.5 x 18 all round, 235/40-18 at the front, 255/35-18 at the rear: All in all about 2 hours work today, including a much needed wash before I started! Love the way this looks: |

If you change your car often, buy the M Sport - they sell better secondhand, and for more money. But if you keep cars a while, I recommend a non M Sport. So mine is the Efficient Dynamics model, not an SE or ES. Mine had sports seats to start with, and the standard spec is very similar to SE. The Efficient Dynamics has lower suspension as standard, but it's a lot softer than the M Sport. You can read through what I've done to the car on here, nothing too onerous!

Main thing is to get a secondhand exhaust with as much as the pipe forward of the rear axle as possible. You need another hanger, but good news, BMW leave a tapped hole for this to be bolted in to! The hanger is 18207526850, and I bought 2 rubber mountings too, 18208511880. I had to cut off one of the existing mounts as it was too awkward to remove/reuse. You also need a bolt, I don't know the size as RealOem was wrong in suggesting I needed a nut. But I used an old 13mm headed bolt I had. The only other part was the 65mm to 55mm exhaust reducer. I bought this from ebay, it came from Germany and was a perfect fit. You cut your existing exhaust to suit the new one you buy. |

And it's gone. I was made an offer too good to refuse, so it went to its new owner yesterday. I'm a little gutted, and the car was perfect - I just needed some more legroom and headroom in the rear as the kids are getting bigger. What to buy next (I haven't actually got a replacement at the moment)?!!
