I've always attributed this noise to the vacuum pump. I've replaced my tensioner, idler, and belt already it made no difference. It happens almost year round for me if the garage is cool or cold in the morning. I figure the engine is sealed tight and pressure inside changes as it cools from operating temperature to ambient.

The tapping/knocking sounds in the op video is completely normal, unfortunately. It's the valve train in the engine. Open the oil cap and you'll hear it loud and clear.

Well I didn't read all but I had a similar issue.
To diagnose I did cold start without the belt to verify no sound. I had no sound. But I could see the harmonic balancer not running straight. Than I inspected every bearing for excessive play. Turned out my AC compressor bearing had play. Changed that and the harmonic balancer. Than put the belt back checked cold start. No sounds anymore. Put on new belt and tensioner for better sleep and that's good for about 50k km so far. Hope that helps. |

There were several sounds. One was a metallic ticking which became a loud knocking sound like a spun rod bearing. This turned out to be the AC compressor. The other one was a tiny periodic belt sound. The belt was scraping on the side of the harmonic balancer.
