Building 3 stage manifold for 328

Whats up guys, So I have done lots of digging and I have tried to look for used manifolds and came up with nothing. So after contacting a couple shops to see if they could put one together for me they tell me it would run about $2,500 for everything! They claim its because of the warranty and some shit. Anywaysss.. I have decided to build my own ( and I say this nervously.. ). I understand for a 328 vs. a 325 some parts are different with hoses and what not so I would like some input from some guys that have experience with this. And for those of you thinking 'what a fucking idiot just go search it' ... I have and I just want to double check everything is right just so I have no troubles when going to get it installed, just as anyone would be. So after looking through this thread (see link below) I searched the parts serial numbers and was utterly suprised at all the choices of parts there were? For example, when I looked up the intake manifold part 10 different ones came up (and this is the same for almost every part number) and were all the same price but some were labeled '2012 - BMW - 128I - N51B30A - L6 - 3.0L - GAS' vs. '2012 - BMW - 328I - N52 - L6 - 3.0L - GAS' and a couple other options... Sooo obviously I was expecting it to pop up with a single part and then I would order it but I guess life can't always be easy! So if anyone has any answers for me PLEASE feel free to chime in

Link with all the part numbers ( thread i was reffering too): http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=381371

Link of where I looked up numbers: http://getbmwparts.com

Here is intake manifold choices I was refering to: http://www.trademotion.com/parts/ind...&siteid=214672

Please take the time to help me out here, as I have put a lot of effort into this thread for not only helping myself out, but for help other people who are interested in this for the future.

Andddd for the people who are Gear Heads and are curious to know what I plan to do, I am going for the ultimate 328 I currently have the PE and plan to get the manifold + PI + AA

Thanks again for taking the time to read this long write up and double thanks to those who actually help me out!

EDIT: came to the conclusion that I have a N51, so this thread is just here now for those who like some more information on how to do the swap

Well... one good place you can find an used intake manifold would be: www.car-parts.com. It shouldn't cost you 2,500 to do the swap. I believe mine cost me... $800 if that. You would need the manifold in working condition, new rubber washers, and a tune to go with it.

GL! Ping me if you need any help with the install.

I was able to get quoted for 285 shipped to my door. Sounds a bit too cheap, so i'm trying to do more research, but it'll be a hit or miss if it comes with the adjuster valves. once I get the ok that they do, i'll pull the trigger

btw i believe the 328s don't need the fuel line hose, or something like that. We can just use our existing one

On car parts.com, search for a 2006 330i intake manifold

I hope someone can confirm, but there was a specific 5-series model that used the same 3-stage manifold.

If you get a used one from a junk yard or car-part, it should be less than $300. Install will take 3 hours if you study the DIY on z4post. Also, don't forget to get a set of intake manifold gaskets.

I am rolling with a PE, PI, 3 stage manifold with AA tune. I might be doing headers as well down the road. (So I don't know what you mean by "ultimate" 328. LOL. ).

If you get parts all new, it should run you about $1300-1500. Used, I have seen from $400 - 800. It depends on what you get with the used unit.
Be sure to ask for pictures before you buy from a wrecker. Some give you the adjusters and others do not (they run about $225 a pop and you need 2).

The intake manifold part number is used on a variety of platforms. This means that the part number is the same for all of them (which is why you are seeing 10 listings). If the part number matches, then you are good to go.

If you want ultimate 328, you need to do all this + a supercharger kit :-)

Yes. 530i after 10/2005.

3hours is a bit optimistic. I would say 4-5.5 hrs for diy

No joke if someone finds me a set with the adjustors, I will pay you $50 for your time. If the price you found it for is awesome, I'll scoot you some more $$.

so an 08 535 intake manifold would be the same as a 06 330 manifold?

I've researched people who have used 530 manifolds, but iirc, it would be easier to use a 330, due to extra lines needed and such?

When searching for 530 manifolds, I can find these easier than 330's, but I personally waited for a 330 manifold.

535 manifold would be the turbo'd one ?

I can definitely keep you updated on my search if you'd like and if the adjusters are there or not
