Brake upgrade while under warranty

Hi all

So after doing a good bit of reading here and other places I decided to go the 335 front brake upgrade route on my E92 325d. I bought it last December as an AUC so figured I'd wait until the warranty was out before doing the change.

Turns out the front brake pads aren't having any of it and the wear sensor has just lit up the dash, so they're not going to make it to December. Now according to the AUC warranty: "An Authorised BMW Retailer or BMW Service Authorised Workshop using only genuine BMW Parts must carry out all service and Warranty work".

This is a bit of a pain in the arse. I don't feel the need to take the car to BMW and pay them £150 for the pleasure of fitting new brake pads, a job I'm completely comfortable doing. And ideally I don't want to waste money on brake pads to fit the 330m discs when I'm planning on putting the 348mm ones on fairly soon anyway! But what I don't want to do is get to December and have them pull some issue up during it's service/MOT that I now can't claim under warranty. So not sure what to do?!

Do I either do the whole upgrade now, a job that again I would do myself, or just put OEM pads on and hold off on the upgrade until after the warranty expires, or just deal with it and put it into the BMW garage for the front pads? I've got a feeling that as it's not a new car warranty that BMW are allowed to void the warranty if I don't get them to service it, or would I just be liable if the front brakes failed but not say if the timing chain went even after doing the brakes myself?

I'd phone the dealership and ask but not sure I want to let them know what I'm planning! So any advice would be great, cheers.

You can have any servicing work done at a VAT registered garage using genuine parts and still keep your warranty valid.
