~*~Help with control arms - part number~*~*~
Hey guys, hope it's all going well.
I've tried using the search function find my problem, but my 2007 e90 is coming up on 104k miles and I need to get my control arm bushings replaced. For both the left (driver side) and right (passenger side). I can't seem to find the appropriate part numbers I need to order the parts. I have an Indy mechanic who will install the control arms but I just need the part number so I can order it from amazon or some other reputable website. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Thanks for the PM. I'm not looking to keeping my e90 for much longer (plan to keep for about a year longer) as the maintnenance is getting to be cumbersome for me and for the type of vehicle it is.
Thus, I still need help with my problem. Anyone know the part numbers I need?😁 Would posting this thread on the general forum section help? On getbmwparts.com, this is what's displayed. But I don't know exactly what I need: http://www.getbmwparts.com/parts/200...0CONTROL%20ARM Last edited by balgopi; 02-26-2015 at 01:39 PM.. |

Is you go only for bushings you will need 4 and they are about $200 to $250. That still still leaves you with old ball joints on the control arms. They are 4 as well. Replacing them is more labor intense than just replacing the whole control arms, upper and lower on each side. That is $400 to $450. For those money you can get a lot more used parts for the front and rear which will crap out on you any time now since you are pushing over 100k |

I have full OEM suspension from E90 Sedan with Sport Package including control arms just sitting. Only 40,000 miles on it.

I really can't see why would somebody want bushings only?
You need to press the old out and than press the new in. The ball joint on the other end of the control arm will be still old. Is more practical an also cheaper to replace the whole assembly especially because is less labor involved. Different folks different strokes, I guess... |

Vwetish, I told you my reason for not wanting to change out my suspension as I am not keeping the car for long. I fully understand the BMW community and those on this forum that have been here for a while like myself and would like to care for their car, long term. I have taken good care of my car over the years, and I'm at a point where I am looking to exchange my current car with a newer one. I'm not sure you understood that in my first post, but I could be wrong.
I've discussed this with maintence with a dealer and also have taken a look at the DIY control arm guide posting on the DIY section and know what I need to do in order to fix the problem, and that is to replace my old control arms. I appreciate you trying offer your friend's suspension to me; however, I'm not looking for this type of maintence. Had I wanted to keep the car for much longer, I would have considered the offer. But being pushy about something and offering advice has a fine line. Once again, I could be wrong in my analysis but hopefully you understand where I'm coming from and why I only need to replace my control arms. Cheers |

Solely reason why I told you what I told you. Has nothing to due with my wanting to unload my friends parts. You come here asking members for an input. Well you got it and other members agree with me. What ever you purchase online can't be more affordable then good used parts. Period. What you decide to do now is completely up to you.

You still insisted upon your opinion, even after the second time I told you what I am really looking for. I already told you appreciated your input but if I am looking for very specific part numbers to replace a specific item, that would be more beneficial.
Let's not stray off topic. If someone could help me that would be great. I spoke with my SA and he mentioned the following parts would be what I need: 1) 31-12-6-763-719 2) 31-10-6-767-496 3) 33-30-6-787-062 However, part 1 is are the bushings and then 2 and 3 are the locking and combination nuts. Wouldn't I also need to replace my actual control arms as well? I'm referring to # 2 and 4 in the picture in this link: https://www.parts.com/index.cfm?fuse...iagram=F272050 Hopefully this answer can help others too in my situation so that it's much easier to look up the answer on this wonderful community😄 |

I would go to BMWfans website and get the part number.
ECS tuning is a great place to shop. They are typically cheaper than most on-line places |

True, they are a great source to purchase. But I was looking for guidance on whether it's necessary to replace the control arms themselves as well, or just the bushings and get the appropriate nuts. ???

Additionally, you can forget about the "appropriate nuts", not needed. |
