And thanks mate We bought our first place too, so its all happening!!
I had same issue aswell. Replaced everything but still had revs going up and down at around 2200rpm. Hopefully when my rebuild is completed that should fix everything with all issues I had.

Good luck champ. Hopefully u find out the issue

Actually its gone from bad to worse.
Its currently at BMW with a corrupted CAS module, and is immobilised.

Long story. For another time.

Thanks Phil. I'm ok for help, unless you want to buy another 335 for parts! Going cheap.

I should hear more today. As of yesterday BMW was having trouble even talking to the car to recover the module. Might be looking at a new one. We'll see.

Update:

Car is back from BMW. They installed a new CAS as it was dead.

1500 dollaridoo's later, the car is alive and well.

And the best news is that after the full firmware update of all modules, the oscillating issue seems to be gone too. It's just day 1, so i'll keep a close eye on it, but I'm really pleased to report the car is going well!

Yeh I'm glad it's going again. I think the solution would be the firmware update. The CAS wouldn't have anything to do with the way it drove.
Needing to replace the CAS was just because something went wrong when Vince and I tried to update the firmware ourselves. That's the risk of fiddling with things that are complex and not very user-friendly.
I felt really bad for Vince though, the car was dead in the middle of his garage for nearly a week, and he got stuffed around by the transport company who picked the car up! What could go wrong went wrong, it was almost comedic.

Good luck with your issue. I am hearing more and more people with a similar issue these days, and if a firmware update is the fix, then that is pretty simple compared to the numerous parts i've replaced and many hours I've spent trying to work it out.

If you're in Melbourne I can highly recommend Waverley BMW.
I've never taken the car to a dealership before. I hear so many stories about getting raped by the stealers, but tbh they were really great, and massively looked after me. Apparently hey spent 8 hours trying to recover the CAS for me, and only charged me for 1 hour. (sure, it is $255 p/h!)

FYI the actual firmware programming was only $100.

They didn't give you any trouble for it being modified?

Glad it's sorted, though I still think it's strange if the issue wasn't there previously, but then appeared without any changes to the firmware first up.

I haven't noticed any coding missing, but only the ECU, TCU, CAS, and CCC were updated.

I'd think re-programing a module which had coding it would lose it. Because all the coding I had was in other modules nothing has changed.

Oh OK cool!

Did you notice the CCC running smoother after the update? Mine is slow and clunky as hell...

My research on this issue has led me to believe it is a transmission issue. Just FYI.

Well after months of surge free driving my issue is back.

What happened is I flashed my E60 custom flash and within 3 days it was back!! I have not touched the TCU at all.
So its booked into the dealer for a reprogram again, and then I'll leave it alone.

Still not sure if its the ECU or TCU but the issue really sucks.

2000km old. Maybe less. Replaced them trying to fix this issue and it didn't do anything, along with any other mechanical or sensor thing I changed...

Ah oh well... Sorry I was quickly reading through the thread but must have missed you replacing them!

All the best with the re-write

Now I disagree with myself.... It'll do it in the garage in park...sucks that it keeps coming back. I have already done a lot that harms has done. One idea I found on another site that supposedly fixed it was replacing the DME harness. It's now on my list...
