E90 Footwell Module.. Help :(

From what I have gathered on the forums, my footwell module is going bad or something in it is going bad. When I start the car my windows quit working, turn signals don't work and no matter what I put the headlight switch on the headlights just remain on. Can coding fix this or should I just start looking for another footwell module? Also if I've had coding done before will I have to get all of the stuff redone after I replace the module? The numbers on mine are 9166725 and 9166729 but I haven't had any luck finding one online with those exact numbers :'(

Sorry to say that but your FRM module is bricked na dyou need to replace it. FRM you need depends from the options in your car. If you have xenon, dynamic lights, and car after 03/2007 then you need FRM with AHL and XE. If you have car made aftter 10/08 then you need FRM3 LED XE AHL. Version MAX Bross will also work.

My production date is 04/08. Do I need to look for any of this info off my current frm while searching for another?

You need FRM with Xenon and ALC.

This one should be ok

I am being told a used FRM will not work as the FRM has to be coded with the vehicle VIN and once a VIN is coded in it can not be changed. I bricked mine in July and replaced it with a used one with the same part number. I regained control over numerous functions, but driver seat, mirrors and right side marker light do not work. ECS Tuning has one for my 2010 e90 for $337, so that's my next buy.

Did this die on its own or have you coded the FRM before? Or, did you do anything before this happened to electrical system like jump start, etc.?

Updating the Vin is easy with a cable and the correct software. Don't waste your money.

Pretty tough when the windows won't open, it's raining, and a hurricane is on the way

The FRM was covered on my 2011 just last month under the extended warranty, you might want to check that out.

Curious do you run any led light bulbs of any kind? The frm can cut off supply to different modules if it doesn't like the buĺb checks after a certain number of counts. This reset of counters can be done in toolset 32 and can restore functionality to an frm that seems on the way out

O well I guess it's my turn to ask for help.

My FRM just left me while I was updated for the latest MHD map.

Production date is 05/11. I am just worried about the coding section.

Which one is it... If my FRM is dead does it put a DME or ECU code, because I have none...

Your frm is under warranty still. The frm was extended to a 10 year 150,000 mile warranty. Make an appointment at the dealership and they'll replace it for free.

Even if I am the second owner of the car? I still have all the documentation. I guess if I will be doing that I would flash back to stock map?

Thanks a lot!

Nope you don't need to do anything. The warranty is not tied to the owner, it's an extended part warranty. You can have bolt ons, don't need to take anything off before taking it in.

Perfect thanks! I'll give one of the local dealer a call. And I hear that the new FRM that they will install will be upgraded and won't have this so called self destruct feature. Is that true?

Alright so, as I was suspecting, today everything is back to normal. Windows are working fine and lighting seems fixed.

I don't know how I am suppose to show this to the dealer and ask for a fix if it is working 99% of the time. I will try to drive it for like 2 months and see if it does anything. If not I will plug in any OBD device and see if it triggers the FRM.

And indeed I contacted my dealer and I have it under warranty till October 23 2020 or 200,000Km!
