E90 owners check your tire pressure !!!

I'm a bad owner . . . I just checked the tire pressure for the first time today since getting the car (yes, I know, I deserve to get yelled at). My two front tires were at 21 and 26. The rears were at 27 and 29. I am so mad at myself right now (and will be even more mad at myself when I have to pay for new run flats earlier than I would have if I kept an eye on the pressure).

Anyway, the manual recommends 29/36. I set them at about 30/35. It's like a different car. I've learned my lesson. I'll now probably be anal about the tire pressure, checking it all the time.

There is also a little detail about the air pressure of the tires. The RFT indicator hasn't the ability to control the small loss of air throught time. I never read carefully the manual and I got myself under surprise when I found 21 PSI on every tyre. So be carefull and check regularly your tires pressure. The indicator has only the ability to alarm us about a sudden loss of a tire's pressure.

I thought I read in the owner manual, e90post, or one of the other forums that there actually isn't a pressure sensor inside the wheel. It is actually measuring the difference of the number of rotations of the wheels that it senses. Almost like if all tires deflated equally, it might not notice. But if one loses some pressure, there will be some difference in the rotations between one side and the other.

You are correct that there is no sensor inside the wheel.

If my specs are 29/32 OEM...and I go to a non-runflat, how much should I increase these pressures? 3psi per tire maybe?

If you want to keep the tire pressure closer to what you set it too I would highly suggest purging your tires and go to nitrogen. I changed to nitrogen recently at the track and was very impressed on how consistent the pressure stayed.
