That looks right from memory and part5 will be small compared to the others, install winrar and double click part one to extract the files then copy what is in the extracted folder (one file and one folder) to the root of a 32gb usb stick formatted Fat32 (cannot be exfat) if you usb is larger than 32gb, fat32 is not a format option, so partition a 32gb partition and format and use that partition. Plug in, in the glovebox and it will notice it within a few minutes of turning on the key and ask to update. Follow the 1b extract thread to extract your 1b and generate an FSC code if you have not already, do a lifetime when you do it and you won't need to do the fsc part ever again.

Perhaps someone might help me out. I downloaded the 2020-1 update for my '09 CIC which is currently on 2017-1. I'm using a Mac and formatted the 32GB stick to FAT32 and the car doesn't recognize it. Thanks

So that looks like just all the rar files expanded and listing the contents all dumped onto a USB or something did unarchive them but it didn't combine them, so that won't work. You need to unarchive all the files somewhere and that will give you in a folder one file called config.nfm and one folder called pkgdb and you copy that file and the folder to the root of the fat32 formatted usb (has to be fat32, not exfat and not fat).

So first, get something that will unarchive a rar file, kek on the mac is what I use, the unarchiver will work also, then open the first rar file and have it extract all the files to a location on your hard drive which will combine everything form all the files. Once that is done, wipe the USB and make sure it is 32gb fat32 (or make a 32gb partition that is fat32 on a larger one) and then copy the file and folder that unarchive to the root of the USB again, if it unarchives properly, you should get a singe file and one large folder only.

I would also suggest if you have not already, to figure out how to get an FSC code as you will need to that to install the maps and the maps will install for an hour and ask for an FSC code and if you don't have it, leaves your Nav not working. You have 2 options, buy one using your VIN or generate your own which is more challenging that unraring the maps - make sure you have that ready before attempting a map update.

Follow this thread to do it, works well can be a little hit or miss, took me a few USB sticks to get one that worked and ended up just leaving it plugged in twice as long as recommended to get the file need to generate the FSC code - make sure you check the lifetime code box when generating so you never have to do it again.

Need the nav folder and on down. I'm not sure why u hav 5 parts should just be one part

I've done this before but can't recall what should be on the thumb drive (using 1 stick method) Is this what the map usb should have on it?

Mine also unzipped into 5 separate parts but I just used the package.db and config files from the first folder and it updated everything just fine. I thought it was odd when I saw 5 parts, since the thread says its a 1 USB lol.

Same here until i extracted the first part and copied it to usb then it 20gb and i was like oh

This update has really tested my patience. As a mac user, there is nothing I've found to guide you through the process. I started looking inside the folders and found nothing but redundant folders with the same files, so I decided to unzip the first package only and it ended up containing everything needed. If you compare it to my first post, you will find that it looks about the same as the image below and is 31.24GB.

To anyone on a Mac with issues, its best to use a Windows computer.

Install 7zip file manager, extract the file to a folder. Format a 32GB USB drive as FAT32, then drop whats inside the extracted folder (one folder and a small file) to the USB drive.

Should work!
