Inactive tpms sensor?

I was driving on the highway and got the notification for inactive tpms so do you guys think the battery in one of the tpms sensors went bad and is there a way to find out which one it is?

Most likely a battery. Try checking on idrive if you have it, or use your stalk. If not, you'll need to scan for it.

e82. My right rear system has a continuous issue. Doesn't matter what wheels are on there or how new the sensors are. I have had 2 sets of after market wheels on with brand new sensors on recently. The systems throws a malfunction alert almost exactly 30min into any long drive and then goes off after a couple more minutes. After that it will come on and go off randomly. I assume I have an issue with the receiver in the car or module.

Two ways to find which sensor:
1. just boot up INPA or ISTA and the error code will be stored. Mine happens to be front right.

or 2. Call around to your local tire shops and ask if they have a tpms sensor battery tester (yes they exist) you can also get them on amazon, but they're about $100-$150 depending on features and brand.

As an aside: It may be worth replacing all four, since it will be at a tire shop anyway for them to install them. Saves you consecutive trips should the others be close.

Good luck,

-R

Just my 2 cents but I found a broken wire on my TPMS sensor module plug which throws the code because it's essentially unplugged with the break in the wire. I bought a replacement module on eBay for $15 (technically I just needed the pigtail part) but haven't yet soldered the new pigtail on.

Maybe check your wires first but mine is definitely a special case.
