M57 Intake Manifold - lost bolt sleeve

Hey, was doing a job on my 335d yesterday and managed to drop a bolt sleeve. I've looked for it everywhere but couldn't find it. I cannot find the part online and realOEM doesn't even show the one I need.

Do you know how I can source one apart from buying a whole used manifold?

On the attached photo you can see the part I'm talking about (actually you can't see it because it's not the orange ring, it's a metal sleeve with black rubber ring which holds the orange ring in place from the other side).

You can see what the part looks like here:

BMW M47 M57 Engine Intake Manifold Bolt Sleeve 2246947 11612246947

The problem is that the ebay part is #6 on the parts list on realOEM but that's not the right part. I actually need one which goes under the flange nut #11 but that sleeve isn't even listed there.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you!!

I don't understand. You have linked to a part which you say it is (photo) but then say it's the wrong part number.

If you are sure it's the right part going by what it looks like then chances are it is.

More importantly. If you can't locate it in the engine bay there is a chance it's fallen into the engine!!!!

Have you taken the under tray off and gone in from under the car? I'd do that first.

I can see why this is confusing... but:

the one on ebay (corresponding to the #6 on realOEM is smaller used in a different location on the manifold.

I only attached the picture and ebay link to show what the part roughly looks like but I'm unable to source the actual part I need.

hope this makes sense

Not in the engine... I quadruple-checked with borescope. I also heard it fall out and it sounded like it went lower than the top of the engine. I took the skid plate off but didn't find it. Spent about 2 hours looking, feeling, borescoping, fishing with magnetic pickup everywhere I could...but it vanished. must be in somewhere on top of the gearbox... don't know.

I think that part is correct but listed wrong.

The other sleeve used routinely on intake manifolds is this:

BMW M47 M57 Engine Intake Manifold Bolt Sleeve 2246948 11612246948 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B076NNBR..._S.2UBb3RD7TBG

Which is for the small bolt I think. In most other diagrams for the m57 the sleeve ending 947 is shown as the sleeve you want..

I dropped two of those into the engine bay last time I had the manifold off. It happened while I was positioning the manifold when fitting it back. I found one after a few minutes but nearly gave up on the second one. But after taking a break I did eventually find it. I think it was sitting on top of the subframe or something, I was sticking my arm in every gap I could and feeling for it with my arm and eventually got it.

do you think the realOEM 3D model and numbering is wrong? The *...947 one is listed as #6 in the screenshot I posted, but shows different location than the one I need.

@tadaska I've spent 2 hours doing the same, no luck unfortunately...

Seems a reasonable assumption looking at the other diagrams..

The part number is correct by the looks of it. Just a bad diagram. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...46947&_sacat=0

I guess these are the two and you are probably right. The ...947 looks like the one I want and the ..948 looks like the one that every diagram refers to as 947. This is annoying... but hopefully the right one. I'll get one see what happens.

Thanks!

Received the eBay part and it is the part I need, so the drawing is incorrect.

I managed to drop one of these whilst refitting the manifold too!! There was no way I was starting my engine until I found it. Luckily I did after about 10 minutes. I think the huge amount of expleatives helped

Make your Purchase based on a part number not on a picture.
If you are sure it’s the right part number the picture can be off. If it’s a completely different part from the one you want you can return it. But from what I’m seeing you have the right number.
