Those look decent. I'm guessing they're not Brembo branded at all? Do they have 'brembo' cast into them?

I'm worried about people buying these and trying to sell them on Craigslist or FB marketplace for twice what they paid claiming they are authentic

They look great and would probably fool 99% of us.

These got here in 3 days. I'm glad I went 355 because a 380 caliper would most definitely not have fit.

Here's the link where I got them at https://m.alibaba.com/product/160010...e-caliper.html.

I was able to negotiate the price A little bit in exchange for posting it on here as a beta test lol. Very responsive to messages. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to put them on the car until next month since I'm currently working 2 jobs.

Would you mind weighing a caliper, maybe by itself and with pads.

Not bad, I'm guessing the 355mm rotor might be a bit lighter than stock, not that I'm doing it for weight anyway.

Are we 100% sure we need 20" for 380mm? Doesn't BMW/Brembo have some brakes in 380mm that work with 19" wheels? If the main benefit is cooling due to increased area, upgrading the disc by 7mm seems like a minor upgrade

EDIT: for example, the guy on youtube has the 380mm kit

And I know his wheels look like 20" 666m's, but they're 19" knock offs according to this one at 2:30

Shocking the knock off brakes did not fit without modification!!! Didn't see that one coming

A 355mm rotor is ideal for the E9X and will let you fit 17'' apex: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=651864

There is ZERO reason to use a 380mm. It is a heavier rotor and forces you to use large heavy wheels which makes no sense and the only reason you need a bbk is for the track where you want light wheels and plenty of meat on your tires. If you ever wanted to track your car in the future, which I would not advise on knock off brakes, the 380mm rotor is going to limit you.

Bigger is not always better.

Let's get real...no one is buying these to track with. This is purely a cosmetic upgrade, even if they can provide some braking performance improvement. Who knows, maybe they prove to be good/better than stock and are suitable for track use for someone on a tight budget, but I don't think I've seen anyone test them to that extent.

Pretty sure Zeroto60 tested them out and they had substantially better stopping power than the stock brakes. He even used dragy testing for.

I get that I just think it is worth mentioning so everyone gets it through their head. For 1k more you can buy a real used AP/ST/BB BBK and get the best of both worlds.

If it is just for looks get the 380mm, use larger rims, ignore the increased weight from both because you likely don't care.

They do look nice for the price I will give them that.

He did, but that's not what I meant. A few street stops don't put brakes to the same torture test as tracking. Take them out on a road course and let's see how they do after multiple hard stops from high speeds with little time in between to cool. Will they hold up? Will the pads, pistons and/or rotors disintegrate? Will the piston seals melt?

Most who go this route won't be tracking their car, but one could easily see a fun back road or canyon run with a street car.

Agreed, although I haven't seen a true BBK go for $1k used.

He meant for 1k more than Aliexpress, IE ~twice the price. Not an insane price difference for what he assumes to be a far superior product.

I'm still not fully convinced that these are NOT legit Brembo brakes, made in the same factory by the same workers, but distributed through not-fully-legal means.

Gotcha, reread what he wrote and you're right.

As for them being legit Brembo, that would be cool but is highly doubtful.

I'd lean towards a factory defect type situation. At $5k for a brake kit Brembo is (should be) choosey. The brembo stickers are one thing but the casting marks...seems like even overseas there would be some legal issues. Like maybe they are supposed to be grinding them off (like the M/// on TRW suspension components) but aren't.
