Computer start issue

Ok next problem has risen it's ugly head.

I have times when the computer/navigation wont start. It just boots and rests over and over and after some time will start up.

Any ideas what I may need to do to stop this?

The car runs fine otherwise

If you have a hard drive equipped unit like a CIC, a dying hard drive will cause this problem.

Check the threads about SSD upgrades.

The drive may be marginal but working enough to clone to another device saving you a bundle of money and time in replacement and repairs.

You can also test for this by pulling the existing HDD then turning on the car.

If the CIC comes up with only one reboot (as it detects the missing drive) then you know this is the issue.

Pulling the drive will not hurt anything but nav and other features will be unavailable.

I had this issue before I upgraded to the CIC.

Its due to the DVD or laser.

For me it was the DVD and was resolved by re-burning the disk. Mine was hot to touch when ejecting and I guess the DVD got damaged by heat over time.

Thanks Kookie. Will reburn and see how it goes. It does sound like the DVD is failing. Like trying to read for a time. But some times it just starts straight up

Better to include specs in the original post.

Pull the DVD to check the startup.
