M3 Control Arms installed.. Is this normal?

Hi all,

I installed m3 front control arms on my e92. It was fairly straight forward torqued down while under load.

Just went for a quick spin around the block to test but the steering feels really unstable like the steering wheel is wanting to throw itself in either direction. It's just way out of alignment i'd imagine? Is this normal after installing these? Booked in for alignment but not till Saturday.

Yes, an alignment is immediately required. You can search around for the specs.

You have changed toe, making it squirrely. Generally it's the only front end adjustment unless you you have camber plates or pull the strut alignment pins.

Hey, post an alignment sheet!

There's some info somewhere about how many turns you need to turn the steering rods out (or in) to roughly dial out/in the faulty toe after changing to M3 arms. Worked nicely for me until alignment was done.

Got the alignment yet? I always like hearing first impressions from those with them since I'll need to upgrade my arms soon.

yes, no problem after the alignment. an increase in NVH has to be noted however. a little more bumpsteer too.

Now i have fitting the M2 spindles which increase camber so i came back to the standard control arm with M thrust arm. good combo Camber gain/brake stability/NVH for my use (canyon roads mainly).
