Just stick with e90 MSport steering wheel. All black looks way better than the F version or non M e90 one.

Plus the F series wheel airbag looks like an oversize pimple horn button...

Why would you want to do that?! The E90 wheel is SO MUCH BETTER than the F30 wheel. In fact the steering wheel was one of the reasons (not the main reason though) I traded in my F30 and went back a generation to E92. I love the E92 msport wheel, its just perfect.

If you must change it to something, why not:
- E90 M3 wheel
- E92 M Performance alcantara wheel

Well right now i have an E92 335i. It has the oem sport steering wheel and i put on the BMW alcantara center piece.

Once i felt the E92 M3 steering wheel i knew i had to have it.

But now after seeing these E90's with the new F30 M-Sport steering wheels i feel like they look a little more modern maybe? Maybe im just used to the looks of my steering wheel and the M3 wheel i want is very similar and i just want something different and something unique that not alot of people have. I've had my E92 for 2 year so I'm used to the sport steering wheel. Its really not that bad.

Ill prob end up with an E90 M3 tri stritch steering wheel. I like the BMW performance alcantara V2 steering wheel, but its just too much for a steering wheel.

I do like that E89 Z4 wheel, but that isnt cheap at all either.

Sorry to dig this up - but what exactly is needed to retrofit a E89 Z4 wheel to a E90/91?

Do they plug and play with the existing car wiring, steering sensor etc?

Is nothing else needed except for the E89 wheel and E89 airbag?

Excellent, so literally its just a case of getting hold of a E89 steering wheel and airbag and it all plugs in to the existing slip ring?

Do you have any pictures of one fitted to an E90? I cant find anything online, but I love the look of this wheel!

Looks great! Anymore pics?

Is that the non-M version of the Z4 wheel?

This was first mod I did! Steering Wheel Mods are always so worth it since it is where you the driver interact with the car when driving! You can't enjoy big fancy rims or chromed-out exhaust tips the way you will enjoy a nice steering wheel.

That non-sport E90 steering wheel was just ghastly!

It is plug and play as long as you unplug the battery and get ready to clear any error codes that may pop up from your battery being unplugged.

Just make sure you get the DUAL STAGE AIRBAG for the E89 Z4 steering wheel.
They are a lot of Single Stage bags on eBay that will not work.

I made the mistake of buying the wrong airbag first so you won't have to. lol.

delmarco, did the heated steering wheel feature work on the wheel for you? How did you get that to work?

I just installed an alcantara covered base wheel into my E90 and love it. It has a grip diameter slightly larger than the e90 sport wheel and feels great. Please forgive the filth on my floor mats...it is still nasty weather here in Buffalo.

Only reason why I wouldn't go with alcantara is the wear and tear. It requires a lot of tedious regular cleaning to make it last. The alcantara on my ZHP was almost totally gone by the time I got a hold of it. BMW was even replacing them under warranty with perforated leather wheels after a certain point. But they feel oh so awesome.

I would say it's possible but it would cost you too much money and too much effort.
Looks like these guys do all kinds of retrofits (they put special module that translates F series commands into E series and backwards)
Here you can see how they converted x5 e70 into new F style generation. M-style steering wheel also as well as NBT system
