When I bought my car the dealer gave me a set of the BMW winter mats. Otherwise I would have the Weather Tech. They are an excellent product that I have put in the last 4 or 5 cars I've had and will order for all future vehicles. Worth every penny.

I pressure washed the ones in our MDX last weekend and they look brand new.

I picked some up for my e92. These seem like good mats and for the most part they are. But, to me, they become a bit useless on the driver side because of how it doesn't have a wall around the gas pedal. p.s. you can buy these locally in canada at part source.

I'm in ontario canada. Even when I kick my feet off every time, a pool of water starts to build up in the mat and I frequently have to remove the mat and dump it out. Even if I do this, it's unavoidable to get water leaking around the gas pedal and soaking the carpet underneath.

The passenger side however seems good because it's not vulnerable to this flaw, however peoples' toe end of their shoes can hit your carpet very easily as this mat doesnt go up high enough. I end up keeping my EOM winters under it, because they protect higher.

I was checking out some alternative mats called 3D Maxpider. I haven't heard much at all about them but both issues I mentioned seem to be mitigated in this design. The gas pedal area has a higher wall, the passenger side has a higher toe wall. Has anyone used them?

I've had the BMW winter mats (dealer threw them in for "free") and never had an issue with them until last year when there was so much snow it overwhelmed the mat's capacity and I had to remove salt stains in the spring. For that reason I also purchased the WeatherTtech mats for this season am having the same experience. After several days of snow in a row I already see faint salt stains by both the accelerator as well as by the left foot rest. I'm very disappointed - a poor, yet expensive solution at best.

Sit in your seat, hold your feet outside of your car.. clap you feet together a few times. put feet in car.. no more snow issues.. while they may be wet, they will most certainly not have snow on them like you might be experiencing.

I ALWAYS do that as well as taking the mat out of the car and dumping it if I see a lot of snow or water sitting there - my goal is obviously as little snow/salt as possible in the car.

The issue occurs most often when it's snowing or right after when they've salted the crap out of parking lots so my shoes/boots are soaking wet with a salt solution; it just takes a small amount to run down the bottom of your shoe/boot to begin to see a stain on a black carpet.

Unfortunately running errands results in entering the car multiple times with wet shoes which just compounds the problem...

I kind of already covered how what you just said isn't valid. The guy you quoted, quoted me saying that

I kick my feet off and go in with the least amount of slush as possible, what I'm left with is an alarming amount of water after one or two trips. I have to take the mat out and dump it.

What looks like "wet" is actually more water than you'd estimate. I figure it mostly goes unnoticed on mats with any sort of absorbing material or channeling design, which this has neither.

I think an ideal design is high side walls plus channels/grooves. Channels prevent a monolithic glob of water from sloshing around. Higher side walls will make it not suck as much over all.

The pooling of water due to a flat area, combined with weak links in the fence(being the side walls), means wet floor.

I went with BMW of Fairfax VA, total with shipping $212.35. Front, rear, and cargo liner. Made by Weathertech for BMW, they have the x-drive logo in the front mats.

Thanks for the tip, I just ordered mine from them. I received the WT mats and installed them. They fit well but the floor clips didn't line up with their holes. I was looking into that when I realized the BMW looked like it would perform better with the higher footwell on the passenger side.
