Hi,
Any coders around South East London or Essex area that could help me with a couple of issues? 1. The scroll wheel on my idrive does not really work. If i spin the wheel as fast as I can it will react extrememly slowly and i can get things done like resetting journey computer etc. but it's pretty ridiculous. I assume this is what other people who claim their wheel doesn't work are experiencing too. If i reset/upgraded the idrive software would this start working? I understand from reading the forums that the system needs to be reset in order for a new scroll wheel to interact with it. 2. The bumpers have parking sensors in them with the cables however they do not lead anywhere further than the inside of the boot. The idrive inside the car has the parking sensor button so if I bought the sender unit that is between the idrive and sensors what are the chances I will have fully working sensors? I want the visual display etc on the screen like you're meant to have. Please let me know if you think you may be able to help Last edited by mattegreythree; 03-25-2019 at 09:41 AM.. |

1. I doubt this is a firmware or software issue. What generation of idrive do you have? CCC or CIC? Try a hard reset. But it's more likely a hardware problem. 2. Have you actually inspected if you have a PDC control unit? The e90 has a common problem with water ingress in the PDC module. Often it causes CAN bus faults and is unplugged as a quick fix. Have a look at the module. PDC is behind the trim by the battery in the boot. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...ol-pdc/OXOJHMT |

1. It is the CCC drive and I think it is also an old software version. There were two scroll wheels that came with the car (One connected and one as a spare) both of which look perfect but both with the exact same issue which makes me think it has to be software. How would I go about hard resetting the idrive? 2. No there is no PDC module anywhere as far as I can tell. The car has been modified by someone previous to me owning it and they changed the bumpers to M ones. I'm not sure that the car in its original state had the pdc function but if i can get it working through the purchase of the module without too much complication getting it to work with idrive then I may well do it. |

The fact you have some functionality with the idrive controller to me suggests its hardware related. Can you show me a thread about this software problem? Have a look at the controller itself... https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1070338 PDC - can you upload a photo of where the PDC module should be? If it has the wiring there already then it should be easy to install another module... |

This is awesome. I am looking for something similar. My query twofold. Firstly, my car is a 2011 E90 320D. Back in 2017 I took out the OEM headunit and installed an aftermarket with a four channel amp and a mono block to add a subwoofer. The headunit gave me features such a carplay, bluetooth music streaming, backup camera ability, 4v pre-amp output and USB. The problem is that aesthetically it never looked right. So just last week, I put in the OEM headunit back into the car. Bear in mind that the headunit I put back into the car is one that I purchased from ebay as I had sold my original one back in 2017. The headunit apparently has USB capabilities as was shown on the pictures of it switched on on ebay. I bought the unit from Quarry motors in Sheffield. When I installed it in my car however, the USB function wasn't there and the reversing gongs weren't working. All the other functions such as bluetooth and the auxiliary were fine. So basically I need both those functions working again. Basically coding the USB function, the PDC and DSP functions.
Secondly - I'm going to be installing a DSP into the car so need a harness that will split the speaker cables, one set to run a signal to the DSP and another set to run back to the four channel amp to power the speakers. I have spoken to two BMW specialists in Nottingham, one of them said that they would look at coding the headunit, the other one basically said that it's not worth their time because it can take seven hours worth of work! Do we know of anyone in the Nottingham area that could do this for me and also source me a harness to avoid splicing into the factory harness? Thanks |

I have tried to reset the system that way before but it doesn't fix anything when it comes back. I've found these threads which relates to coding and software issues in relation to the idrive wheel. https://www.m3post.com/forums/showth...=280901&page=4 https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=786929 I am sure I found others that did say something about a reset to match the idrive system with the contoller but I can't find posts like that now. https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...nt-scroll.html https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=812218 Those latest ones are an example of someone else likely having what I have wrong but they haven't span the wheel fast/long enough to realise it will function, just very badly. Also since my last post I have been into BMW and got one of the staff to pull up my exact car specs. It turns out my car never came with idrive when built so it must have been put in afterwards and i'm almost certain it was the idrive system from an M3 (I get error messages whenever i turn it on to tell me about an error with the dynamic damping control which I have only ever found related to in M3 threads) Finally, I also took apart one of the controllers I had which showed nothing wrong hardware wise. The sensors to detect scrolling would work but I had to engage them multiple times per one scroll turn (if you know what I mean lol) which makes me think the system isn't picking up the information correctly from the controller. And no, no current wiring in place for PDC. EDIT: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...CIC+controller Also just been reading that. I think I can get one of those newer style controllers for around £100, do you think that would work plug and play? Maybe my idrive system is newer than the old single button style controller I have and that's why it won't work. Last edited by mattegreythree; 03-25-2019 at 10:00 AM.. |

The PDC is strange. PDC is a very basic and most E90s have it. Have you actually removed the trunk trim and looked to see if there is a PDC module?? |

If I don't manage to find anyone, I might take a different route. I have an Audison Bit Ten D which has optical input. I'll buy one of these:-
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DELICACY-...97.m4902.l9144 and just stream through that bypassing the HU. |

Guys, can someone help me? I need a professional head unit with the code 6512 9343204 or a derivative. Apparently, that was the code on the headunit that was in my E90 LCI. I’ve got another headunit but when I took it down for coding I was told that it couldn’t be done because the code was incompatible. I really need one with the code I stated so that I can get hifi and usb coded. Otherwise I’ll have to go aftermarket.

Remote coding is very popular now. All you need is a cable, a laptop and a decent Internet connection to your car. |
