Windshield tint ?

I've got a jet black e90. Would using a clear tint on the windshield help keep the vehicle cooler? Also, is the moon roof tinted from the factory, because that is hot to the touch.

Thanks

Clear tint wouldn't actually be tint. Also, clear tint would block no UV rays thus being useless in cooling down the interior of the car. Not sure on the moon roof factory tint, I would assume that it is not tinted. The moon roof will be hot to the touch just as the top of the car would be if it has been under the sun for any amount of time.

The best way to reduce heat from entering the interior is ceramic tint. I personally have Wincos Ceramic 50% tint on the full front windshield and 35% all the way around.

I have the full windshield done on both my cars.

1er has Llumar Blue Air 80.
3er has XPEL XR Blue 80.

Both are fantastic. Really cuts down the heat.

If you haven't done so, check the regulations in your state before tinting.

I think in Texas you can go no darker than 80% on the windscreen.

Llumar says that clear tint will protect from UV and even heat.

https://northamerica.llumar.com/auto...ar-window-tint

In addition to this i did a bit of reading on windshields and apparently the layer of plastic that is in the windshield "helps windshields absorb nearly all of the sun's ultraviolet rays. Plastic is naturally good at absorbing UV rays, and can be made with extra UV absorbers to protect even more. The Pittsburgh Glass Works exec says windshields absorb 100 percent of UVB rays (which cause sunburn), and around 98 percent of UVA rays. Those UVA rays don't cause sunburn but can do long-term damage to the skin. That built-in protection gives windshields a sun protection factor - or SPF - of 50 or more, the equivalent of some of the strongest sunscreens."

Which do you prefer, Llumar or Xpel? And what did each cost with install? Thanks!

I prefer the Llumar actually. Can't even tell it's there. They were both about the same price. The XPEL has better heat rejection though.
