Lightbulb Question about noise in serpentine belt area - 2011 335i n55

Well, I just switched my 2007 328i for a 2011 335i, and I'm very glad with the upgrade, it's like drive a vespa scooter and a Kawasaki Ninja.

Well everything on the 335i is great, the only thing I have noticed as of today is that when I start the car in the mornings I hear a little clunk in the serpentine belt area that goes away just 2-3 minutes after the car gets a little warm, today my son and I just replaced the Serpentine belt (by the way, we didn't need to remove the fan from the car to replace it) but the noise is still there when the car is cold in the mornings, I'll try to replace the serpentine belt tensioner next, but I just need to know if anyone here was on the same boat with this kind of problem and if anyone have found a solution to this issue.

Thanks a lot for all your support, this is the best forum, I have learned a lot from all of you and I'm very confident to work on my car thanks to this forum.

Blessings to all !

Any previous oil leaks? Oil on the belt usually causes all kinds of noises, in my experience anyways

I have heard a squeaking/whining sound from up there occasionally. Of course the dealer "could not replicate"

I'm also 2011 N55

I've got the same thing. Indy told me it was my tensioner. Will be trying to get dealer to replace next week under warranty.

I have changed twice in a month on the pulleys and belts.

Lastly it was the crank shaft pulley ...

It was not under warranty as usual by dealership ... crap excuses. changed it and sound gone!

How much did you pay for parts and labor ? did you get the car to the indy or stealership ?

sorry to revive a very old thread but i am having the same issue (135i n55).

cold mornings, get the screech noise, then the ticking squeeking cricket noise for a few minutes until the car warms up a little bit.

i have read its the belt, tensioner pulley, idler pulley? but i am also reading some ppl replacing them without success, so i dont want to replace parts for nothing.

did you ever find out what was happening with yours? or anyone else fix a similar issue? tbh when googling this issue it seems quite common on BMW's (my first beemer only owned for 3months so far lol).

Look into the pcv vale on the valve cover. The majority of causes for this sound is a bad pcv valve in the VC causing too much crankcase vacuum. user Vespa wrote up a diy for checking it.
