You save money when you down size from 19" to 18" to 17" to 16" tires, considering you have the same tire for all the sizes.

what i ment was with the 162's you have to replace the tires every 14,000 or so, with the 158's you can rotate them, with the 158's i would save money not replacing the the tires ever 14,000 or so correct?

With the 158īs you can rotate and the tires themselves are cheaper. So you will save money. How long they last depends on how well the tire itself (independent of size) lasts (threadwear rating) and on how you drive. Both is not a matter of tire size (or even RFT or not) but of tire brand, type, car and drving style.

Besides, performance is better with the 158s. The 158 actually is the lightest OEM wheel for the E90 with more than 16inches (at about 10Kg = 22Lbs). The tires are lighter too.

Edit: you once mention the 159 and then the 158. Both have the same size, but the 158 is a full 4Lbs lighter per wheel (and is easier to keep clean), so if you have the choce, go for the 158 (the 330xi stock wheel)

I hope you are getting alot more than 14,000 miles out of your tires.. If not you have some serious driving issues..
