Why would you need a wheel alignment? Not unless you put on different springs when you get it.

So you meant the alignment should be done with all new cars? I just wanna protect the RFT and make sure they don't wear out fast.

Yes, they all come aligned. RFT will not last like NON-RFT, but you will get between 15,000-20,000 if your lucky.

I got screwed on an 04 VW Touareg that had perpetual alignment problems from delivery until the day I sold it that the dealer/VW would never cover because I could not prove the alignment was f*d up from the beginning. So, as a result, because of the way manufacturer's deal with alignment and tire wear, I make it a practice to do a wheel alignment on all new cars I buy. Consider it a baseline measurement.

FWIW, take note of your steering wheel position (is it off?) or if your car veers to one side or the other (pulling effect) which can be indications of poor alignment. I got my CPO 330i with 13,000miles and the steering wheel was off and it pulled to the right. The alignment turned out to be off. My previous car was an '03 VW Passat W8 and had similar problems after I accidentally ran over a metal object on the road with the right front wheel. my front right tire wore out quicker and the steering wheel was not straight. From what I've learned, you are supposed to get an alignment after you change tires or replace suspension or you jolt the car by jumping a curb or running over objects. New cars are supposed to be properly aligned, so you wouldn't necessarily need to get it aligned right out of the showroom...but you never know.

I am super lucky, I got 27,600 miles on rft and still trying to squeeze more life out of it.

Normally, right out of the plant, your car should be aligned.

Yes, absolutely you should re-align your car.

See, BMW in their infinite wisdom does not think to align the car out of the factory. They test and test and test everything else but the alignment. Sometimes the alignment is so bad, people run into things right out of the dealership.

Sorry, stupid question deserves a stupid answer.

My car was out of alignment spec at 1800 miles as verified by the camber and toe-in thresholds given to my tech by BMW NA and on the hunter. The dealership claimed it was wrong from factory.

Now, getting the alignment didn't fix my problem altogether. The car began to track left instead of right. But, this was not a tracking issue. As someone said, the steering wheel happened to be off center and needed adjustment. This was the verdict of the master tech guy who drove it as I sat shotgun. So, be careful how you describe the problem. Some other tech may have heard me say tracking and just did another alignment etc etc.

Ok, I may have been a bit harsh. Yes, I know it can happen. Engines can blow up right out of the factory too, does that mean I should change my oil as soon as I take delivery? I still think it was a dumb question. Fix it if it's broken, no need to assume so before you get the car.
