injector recall document- here ya go guys

Here is the document for the injector recall . I was told BMW has not "tagged" any vins to the recall yet, which is why it will show up as 0 recalls for your vehicle. This will take a few weeks I was told. But here is the complete document for anyone interested .

I was also informed this is a new recall, has nothing to do with the previous injector documents. And if your vin is one they have tagged you will get 6 new index 12 injectors . My car fits the exact criteria so I am really hoping the recall will apply to mine! would be nice to get my injectors for free rather than 1350 from FCP haha .

Why could they just move the dates to at least to 02/07 lol... I don't want to cough up 1400 on index 12 injectors

And that's why I said give it a few weeks. I wasn't trying to mislead anyone, was just letting people know it's coming out. I choose not to post the bulletin even though I have access to it.

It's weird then how did this get traction? Did they just basically re-released the recall to make sure all cars were recalled or?

Thanks for the information about a week now still nothing on my recall list. Hopefully, this can be done soon so I don't have to replace my fuel injectors myself.

It's probably because you're on Index 1 injectors. Do you have issues with your injectors now? I was in the same boat with a 03/07 and was not happy about the recall situation, but from hearing around and consensus is that index 1 are the best injectors made quality wise.

No issues at all, yes index 1's. I'll continue to drive and have fun as usual

Do you by any chance know if this recall is exclusive to the U.S.?

If it is, does anyone know whether recalls such as these usually happen in other countries as well at a later date?

I'm an 07 as well, was left out of the recall by one month even though my ecu fried and the injectors failed. All 6 had to be replaced out of pocket (including the ecu). This happened about 7 years ago during the original campaigns. On you early builds with 01 injectors, your msd80 ecu can and will fail and take out your injectors coils and plugs at some point. There's a thread on here on how to handle it that's would be good to read up on so you're prepared.

Is it the mosfet issue with the msd80?

That's the only issue I'm aware of. I had a mosfet fail on 2 seperate occasions. After the second time, I replaced all six, which I should have done the first time around. I only lost 1 ignition coil during my 2 failures, though.

Hi everyone, I am looking at this BMW recall from a stand point of exclusion (BMW will want to save $$ some how). So, I am wondering if anyone has heard if this recall would be:

a) limited to X number of miles on the clock,
b) limited to specific injector index #,
c) limited to prior injector recall not having been completed on one’s vehicle.

I have not called the dealership, because I believe they wouldn’t provide specific info at this time. Also, the dealership close by doesn’t have the best customer service folks. They are nice people, but seems to me they are not fully up to speed on things.

Thank you,

As far as I know the only requirement is that you haven't had ALL SIX injectors replaced prior. There is a much better, larger post on this on here somewhere. Much more info there.

I just got off the phone with BMW USA customer service. The rep was aware of the new injector SIB and told me no cars are meant to get injectors replaced under it. I also asked why my car never had the injector recall performed even though it's a 2008 e90 335i built on 05-29-2008. He thought it may have been because my car came off the South Africa assembly line instead of from Germany. I guess it could be why my car never had the injector recall performed but sounds like BS and I should qualify for new index 12 injectors.

BMW N54 Fuel Injector Recall

Hey y'all, I'm from California, I have a 2007 e92 335i(05/07) and heard about the index 12 fuel injector recall that came out early 2020. I called 2 BMW dealerships nearby to me and they say they have no signs of new recall or current recall update. I have them the SIB and recall # but no luck. My car should def be in the qualifying dates for this recall and don't no why it's still not popping up? Maybe just not in the system yet? Thanks yo

Bump, I called them today 04/13/2020! They said they have nothing.

So I'm in Seattle and the dealer saw the SIB come up for my VIN. However, they're giving me a bit of a hard time with actually getting them replaced. First, they required there was an actual error code despite me telling them there is acceleration stutter when I mash the throttle. They did verify the injectors were index 11 but apparently that's not reason enough to replace them. Second, they said they could verify there isn't carbon build up and use that as an indicator that it's likely the injectors.

So I said go ahead, since I had the valves walnut blasted 10 months/8k miles ago. Today they sent me pictures and there's already some build up in there, especially on the valves themselves. Currently, I'm not sure if they consider the build up severe enough to blame the stutter on; pretty miffed that there's this much build up after such a short time/distance.

Either way, I know it's not the carbon that's causing the issue, since the stutter existed even after I had the valves cleaned. Now I have to figure out how to convince them.

TLDR: Gave them my VIN and the bulletin came up, but it hasn't been as simple as "replace them since I qualified".
