LCI tpms sensors on a pre LCI car?
When I installed my Avant-garde m510’s on my 08 335i the tpms light popped on my cluster and it has been on ever since. I had them install the sensors in the wheels when they were mounted but they never worked. I recently bought wheels and sensors for my 11 335i and plan on using the wheels I take off that car(the sensors work perfectly) on my 08, would I be able to sync the LCI sensors to my pre LCI car? Would I have to install a TPMS receiver from a LCI?

There were 3 versions of TPMS systems on E90. The original system It does not use TPMS sensors at all. It uses wheel speed sensors to calculate rotation speed and "sense" inflation rate from it Next were 2 generations of TPMS sensors. The change between 1st and second TPMS sensors happens somewhere in 2009. My E91 (Mar 09) - uses gen1 TPMS (same as your 08 335i) My E90 (May 10) & E70 (Dec 12) uses gen2 TPMS (same as your 11 335i) gen1 and gen2 TMPS systems are not interchangeable. However, you can code both cars to disable TPMS and use original (TPMS-free) system. This will allow you to swap wheels between them Compatible OE replacement sensors - gen1 RDE048V21 - gen2 RDE012V21 |
