Sidewall Damage
Hey all - I discovered a few weeks back that deer aren't very good at frogger. As I'm pulling my car apart to repair the damage, I noticed a slice in the sidewall of one of my tires and wanted to get some opinions on the need to replace it or not.
No steel visible, and it appears to be mostly superficial, so my gut says it's fine, but still wanted to ask the community - I'm sure if I take it to a shop they'll just tell me to replace it for the sake of making a sale. Thoughts?

I would replace it, it not about making a sale but safety/liability. imagine if a tire shop says it ok and u take a hard corner and the tire pops, what then?

Any damage on the sidewall of a tire should be an immediate replacement, regardless of belts showing. Any tire shop that cares about liability wouldn't even touch it if you wanted to do a rotation, air up, balance, flat repair, anything. It's a hazard. The sidewall in a tire is where the most pressure is. And honestly, you should really replace AT LEAST both tires per axel, at the minimum. You don't want to have one tire on the right at 10/32nd of an inch, and on the left one at 5/32nd of an inch.
