Mahle vs Original BMW parts?

I'm replacing the piston rings in my N52. The BMW piston rings are like triple the price of Mahle rings so I picked up a set of Mahle ones, but I'm wondering how risky it is to use them instead of forking out the price of original BMW rings, which are probably manufactured by Mahle, but then I know that with gaskets its best to go with original stuff. Opinions, experiences?

The BMW parts are likely Mahle just in a different box.

Yeah, most likely, but I've heard of quaility control being better when parts are made for BMW boxes

I've never heard of that, I mean it doesn't make sense for them to have separate quality control standards for parts going into a different box. Mahle makes pretty decent parts, I would buy their piston rings with confidence.

In general you can trust, including but NOT limited to:

Mahle, (Victor) Reinz, Continental, Mann, Siemens VDO, Bosch, Delphi, Corteco. Meyle?

Definitely a few others, but these are the companies that make like... 3/4 of the car. Multiple companies may supply BMW the same part, depending on year, revision, availability in that moment, contracts, quality or mean-time-to-failure/statistical analytics, etc. a million things can affect it.
