Coolant cap valve stuck
I've had an aftermarket Behr (made in China) reservoir on my car for a year now. Car overheated a few days ago because of poor water pump electrical connection ( think). When removing the cap, the valve disconnected from the female connectors on the cap and stayed in the reservoir. Was able to pry it out and reconnect to the cap. I ordered a new OEM cap. In the meantime I replaced the cap and ran the car again. Now I cannot even pry the damn thing out. Wondering if this happened to anyone else and if a reservoir replacement is needed instead of just the cap.

The safe bet is to replace the reservoir in case the valve blocks the outlet.
Most of the reservoirs (Uro, Rein) and those sold by RM European (Behr and BMW) carry a 2-year warranty. FCP would have lifetime warranty. Check your warranty first. |

I didn't appear to order on account from FCP or ECS at the time (if I even ordered from them) but will give them a call. Got accounts with both NOW as recently did new turbos and bunch of other maintenance.

Your online credit card accounts should also have a record for at least the past year. If you can locate the purchase record that should help as well, in case the seller cannot locate your record from name and address alone.
Some credit cards also offer extended warranties. I have never used them and do not know if those cover auto parts. |
