Man what a shock that must have been. I see you managed to catch a 6er getting by the debris apparently unscathed (ur pic #2).

I hope your car and psyche are repaired up to original condition

Yikes, sorry to see what happened. Good to see you're ok. BH should reimburse you for a new car. I wonder if tree might have been diseased (certain palm trees), city of Irvine had to replace a bunch at like 5k a piece.

You win for craziest e90 thrashing.

Glad you're all right.

Once in Costa Rica I saw a coconut fall from a tree and break a 4-5 inch thick conrete table in half. They said coconuts have killed people before.

They are starting to revolt! You weren't ever a lumberjack were you?

That is HORRIBLE!!!

It almost looks like the branch exploded on impact with your car. There seems to be fragments of broken up branch all over your car and the street.

Sorry this happened, but its a good thing no one was seriously hurt (excluding the car).

It's been pretty windy in So Cal these past couple a days but man, that's like some Final Destination sh*t! Good thing there was no one in the back seat! Hope everything works out.

just a quick update on the whole situation.
estimated damages came out to 12K. the trunk, hood and roof need to be REPLACED. i expressed my concern about cutting up the roof and putting a new one on but he assured me that there are specific weld spots for the roof and that it is 100% safe to disassemble the roof and weld a new one on. any thoughts?

they will repair the bucking in the area above the gas door, repaint the whole car but two driver's side doors (probably should try to get them to repaint the whole car??). i will need a new headliner, new windshield, new parcel shelf and new rear seats.

i can only hope that my car will be as close to new as possible after all these repairs.

Get a CF roof

But yeah, you can replace a roof like that. They are probably ripping you off like every other body shop, not that it matters. I hope for a speedy recovering for your E90.

Are you using a body shop of your choice? If they are good I wouldn't be too concerned about the roof. They should be able to fix it so that you can't tell it was ever touched. I would still try to get them to repaint those doors too. I forget what color your car is (and if I go back and look I'll lose this) but if you have metallic paint there might be a matching problem.

well the good thing is that i have jet black so the paint should be easy to match. i'll still talk to them about repainting the whole car if possible.

yes, it's the bodyshop of my choice. it's where beverly hills bmw refer all their customers to so the bodyshop only fixes bimmers. when i was there, i saw a new 7 series, a e90, e60 and many e46s there waiting to be fixed so i trust this bodyshop.

That still doesn't mean you can trust them.

I moved the car out of the way and got out to look. What happened was the top section of a very tall palm tree had come smashing down into the roof and trunk of my car.

I'm not feeling too well now due to the loud bang and shock. It just happened out of no where. Anyway, the car is sitting at a bodyshop right now and the insurance company is taking care of it. I have a police report and a report with the city of Beverly Hills.

I took some pics of the damage with my cell phone, here they are:

You can not be serious.... that roof is destroyed. There is no way to straighten that out without piecing in new sheet metal. They will just replace it and weld it back, not a big deal if they are a competent shop and the rear quarters are not mangled too much which they do not appear to be.

I would make sure the sunroof and the mechanisms are swapped out as well, if the guide rails are bent at all you will be in a heap of mess later.... you will have a lot of issues.

Best of luck!
