I sold the old 335d, moved countries (nay continents) and currently drive a ridiculously quick CLA45 AMG with stage 2 here in the land of Oz.

The 335d (along with family and mates) is the only thing I miss from home. I loved that car and still miss that torque. Never been back in over 4 years and it still feels like my 335d is sat in the airport carpark waiting for me to return

This is my first time back on here in a long time. The BMW went a long time ago.

I have a nosy from time to time.

Since my 335i I've had a A45 AMG, MX5, on our second Mini Clubman S and M235i.

How'd they compare. The A45s looked good when they first came out but they don't seem to quite have the tuning potential of the 335.

M235i and M240i look like great tuning platforms.

How do you find they compare? Have you done much modification to your 335?

We still see so many M3 vs 335i threads every day. Alot from newbies who just bought a 335.

Still have alot of 335D vs 335i discussions as well. I'd say a 335D just doesn't compare but DXB wouldn't agree I'm sure

But I've gone port meth injection, hybrid turbos, jb4, flash tune, stage 3 fuel pump for ethanol fuels etc. Doesn't seem that too many diesel owners do any more than just a remap. Meth has a fantastic performance increase on diesels.

Nice! I would love to live in Australia. Spent 2 years in Thailand. Loved the climate but didn't like the lack of honesty, regulation etc that makes more advanced countries civil to live in. You can get wiped out by a truck or bus driver high on stimulants trying to do more shifts or shot. There were 3 or 4 assassinations within a few miles of me where people had borrowed money and not paid it back or other dealings had gone sour.

I'd mostly like Australia for the fishing potential. In the past done holidays to Florida for shark fishing from the beach. I've caught bronze whalers, bulls, blacktips etc.

Friends have caught big makos, hammerheads, tigers and people they know caught a great white. Landed and released. Some of the Tuna fishing from the rocks of WA just looks incredible. Spinning rods with Stellas hooking into 200kg yellow fins and sharks often nailing catches right at the rocks.

Both the M3 and the 335i were/are standard. Both manuals. I don't intend to modify the 335i at all. It's still covered by BMW warranty, so I'll keep it standard.

Anyway, performance wise, not a huge amount in it until you're into 3 figures. The M3 is naturally better to drive and handling is on another level to the normal 3 series. I'd take the M3 every day of the week over the 335i. However, for what I need it for, the 335i is absolutely fine and it's doing a cracking job of being a daily driver.

I'll be taking it on a similar European road trip as the one I did last year in the M3. Will be interesting to see how they compare. Although sat on an Autoroute with the cruise control on is hardly testing the car!

Hello Lads

Haven't been on here in years but glad to see a lot of you are still around.

Bought an Audi RS3 last year - my word what a crazy car. The only shame is the dealer network. I decided to abandon them from the get go as there are lots of decent indies out there.
