New M3 Owner hear (SW Michigan)... just wanted to 'second' the vote for Gingerman... I took my 997tt on it last summer... great track (and pretty relaxed place)

Not sure if I can take my M3 on it, as I opted for high performance all-season tires ...

It was hard to say goodbye...

... but the road noise on the drive to the dealer confirmed my decision.

... my first few shifts with the DCT confirmed my decision 110%. Also frankly the more comfortable suspension is very welcome on crappy West Michigan highways :-)

then after a bath:

Looks great. I think I saw this at Sharpe BMW last week.

Yep, that was mine!

One of the summer tires had a nail in it. I wanted to switch to all-seasons anyway so I had them put on 4 brand new tires (A/S 3's)

... If I could have 3 sports/exotic cars I'd probably have a 997tt again (but a .2 PDK, and those run $90k+), plus an M3 and maybe a Lambo. Honestly the more exotic cars are more of a headache to DD and also to service/maintenance. Sometimes simpler, more practical and cheaper is better. To put it in perspective, if you removed money from the equation, I wouldn't trade my M3 for an M5 or an M6. The M3 really hits the sweet spot of cost/size/speed/practicality/FUN. It reminds me of the late 80s BMWs I used to drool over as a kid, and is as 'approachable' as a driver or someone who wants to do their own detailing and minor maintenance. Bigger/faster/costlier isn't always better.

Did they toss out the other 3 tires?

I would get a 991 Turbo, GTR, and the F80 M3.

Didn't ask what they did with them, I probably should have. I think they were pretty worn.

Oh, I see. I think the way I read it, I assumed they were fresh with one nail in one of them. In that case, good ridden!

welcome! i just moved out to chicago though but used to live on the east side in novi.

They're not that exotic and a little vintage but I'd get a R32 GT-R, E30 M3 and an NSX.

That m3 is smokin!

Just got some new wheels. Next up front bumper reflector change, and needs a drop! Definitely want some coil overs.

Ugh. I love Porsche. I was in the MotorCity Gumball Rally this year, and there were a few 911's and I just couldn't help but smile when I saw them.

I love the M3, and can understand why you switched, but man.. What a car.

Sean, lemme get the hookups on your shop too. I'd be down to make the trip next spring/summer for some work.. I have a few things planned.

My 3 exotics would include 991t, F82 M4, and Ferrari 458 or a 430 would suffice.

For sure! When is the next GR meet up??

Edit: I'd be down for autocross, gingerman, grattan, cook out, or just going out one night.

Hmm.. Not much going on yet. There might be a couple track days. I know there's a few things going on next weekend, but I'll be gone to Chicago for a photo shoot.

anybody know a good paint shop in the troy/rochester/warren/royal oak area? I took my old M3 bumper to get painted at Autometric Collision of Troy and was happy with the service but after 2-3 years the paint started pealing away. Also, it was about ~400ish to just paint the bumper. At the time if felt a little pricey but I just wanted the bumper painted so I didn't look around.

Automark, definitely.

Not exactly in that area, but it's probably worth it to drive a bit farther.

Automark in Farmington. Pricing is reasonable but work is excellent. No orange peel on my M3 rep bumper and they must've polished and sealed it for me before I installed it because it beaded like crazy after a rain storm.

Just an FYI for anyone who's looking... There's a great photographer coming out to Chicago this weekend. If anyone is interested in getting locked in, he's got 2 more spots open for a session (Saturday and Sunday). PM me for more info.
