Yep, that's how it is at my dealership. Show them you're at least 21, a Visa or Mastercard, and proof of insurance.

HAHA. They never give me a loaner at 18. One time they promised me one and screwed me over at the last second. FAIL. I have to write a letter about them f*cking up my trunk and not paying for it because THEY took a week to call me back.

Yeah. For two years. They had to start a third shift to keep up with demand. It was originally estimated to sell maybe 50k units per year. But the first year went over 150k sold, and the second and third years kept that sales rate up. There were clubs formed for it worldwide even before introduction. Huge fan bases in Germany and Japan, including people who bought them in the US and shipped them over to have the first ones in those countries.

Many of the sites have gone away as the PT has aged, but it was a huge hit worldwide when it was new.

In comparison, the Aztek was estimated beforehand to sell 50k units it's first year as well, and barely made 15k of them. Those numbers went down rapidly until it was killed off.

The PT was exactly what the market needed: a practical, small, tall wagon with uniue style. Others had been tried before it with limited success (the Nissan Axxess, the Mitsubishi Colt and Expo LRV, and even the Civic Wagovan), but the PT was the first one on the market that was successful.

And yeah, the style was love it or hate it. But it in no way was a POS. No car is that does the job it was supposed to do, at the right price point, and is reliable.

OP:

Delete this thread. You crashed your car and that's why he wont give you a loaner. When i was 16 i got a loaner, but i didn't go crashing and everything. After 15+ thousand dollars in damage, i wouldn't give you a loaner either.

The reason kids don't get loaners is simple; the dealership's insurance sets the rules. If they say no one under 21 gets a loaner, and we give it to a kid who wrecks it, we're out a car, and responsible for whatever damage he does with it. Not a good idea! Believe me, no 16 year old is going to get a loaner, especially after he wrecked his own car!
