Home is wherever Uncle Sam sends me. We'll be moving to North Carolina. I scheduled the Baltimore pickup to coincide with our arrival from the U.K. Boy I sure do miss my car! Particularly miss the convience of having two cars...as now my wife has to shuttle me around...or vice versa.

To return to the topic though...I plan to order a pouch for my iPod as soon as I can. Probably going to use a dealer in Raleigh NC as my "local" dealer. Need to stop by anyway to transfer my warranty and talk about BMW Assist.

I figured once I had enough data for another query I could do a second poll. As for the velcro, E90Fleet says it is mounted with screws. I have learned to trust him implicitly on such matters of fact.

in EU seems that most post week 10 prod got the ipod case.
mine is week 14 and i have it :
spacegrau+jadegrau+pianoblack+ FR sport package

but we don't have the ipod Y cable because of bmw not allowed by EU to sell/brand it as Ipod (but USB Audio interface) we have to order it separatly.

i guess they had to give priority to EU buyer for the hdd/ipod holder case to compensate the lack of ipod cable. our 6FL option is 300€ which translate to 400$ so i think it is fair from bmw to give ipod case to all EU car (given the lack of ipod cable)

and btw once i converted all my m4p to mp3 i got all ipod function with the standard ipod cable (playlist/genre/artiste/album).

I asked someone at BMWNA to look into this today. Nice guy named Ryan I believe. He said he had just recently heard the same question from another owner, but had never heard of the pouch before that.

His preliminary answer was that it might be a dealer installed courtesy (I have doubts on that).

Those who HAVE the pouch - can you ask your dealer if they installed it or if was in the car on delivery?

this is all funny. I knew when I ordered the car that I wanted Ipod integration. when I mentioned it, the dealer said that is all after market and that they won't deliver it like that. maybe this just changed in the past couple months. I did a european delivery in munich on 12/18/06. received the car (in the states) on 2/28/07.

all in all, I've found it's hard to get information on this stuff. the guy I spoke to about it said mine would be the first one he would install that didn't have navigation. he was going to have to look into what happens (whether playlists show up... all that) and how it works. is there a way to find out what it does, so that I am in the know, before I spend alot of money to get it all done? Anyone out there not have navigation and still have the integration?

and I'll be sure to ask about the 6FL stuff. I would love to get as much info on this as well.

Sean - welcome aboard.

The non-iDrive only means that you will have a little less visible information on the screen, but you will still be able to see everything you need.

The only option available to you is the dealer-installed iPod adaptor. The 6FL is a factory install only option, and yes it is new: March 2007 forward.

Playlists, Artists, Albums, etc. will NOT show as such - but will be represented by CD1, CD2, CD3... etc.

one other question... is there a reason that ipodyourbmw.com isn't working? i'm reading posts from like last year to get as much info as possible... but a more "up-to-date" version would be great.

I completely forgot about this poll with all the excitement of picking up my new car.

My E90 335 had the ipod case already installed. My CA also had the ipod cable ready sitting in his desk waiting for me. In hindsight, I did send him an email a couple of weeks before the car arrived asking about availability of the 6Fl cable, to which he responded they had just received a shipment and they had plenty (this was around late April).

BMW NA never did call me back to answer the question of why some cars get it and some don't. My dealer was also very curious and they can't get an answer either. They say some cars are coming in with them, and some without them for no apparent reason.

To their credit, they took the liberty of ordering one for me and said they'll be happy to install it for me when it comes in.
