e90 N55 won't start
Wondering if anyone knows what the problem can be? I bought my 2011 335i about 4-5 months ago and it has always had a long crank. I thought it was a battery issue so I replaced the battery (myself) stupid idea because I found out quickly these have to be coded by the shop in which I found I also needed a new frm module so I had all of that fixed which after the battery cost and everything was around $1000. Since then it has still had a long crank and actually continued to get longer and longer until finally about 2 weeks ago while my fiancé was going to get us food it just would not start anymore, so she had it towed to my house which later that night I went and checked on it and the brakes were very hard to push and the steering wheel would need hulk to turn that thing. So when I would go to start it all the electrical would turn on but after that it wouldn't do much of anything other than hum. So I bought a launch spreader to see if I can run my own diagnostics instead of sending it to the shop and the only thing I got back that was wrong was in the electrical which said "undervoltage" so obviously its not the battery because thats brand new and there is no corrosion or anything so I found out that it could be something called an "earth strap" which is basically a ground wire for the electrical and I replaced that and still nothing. So I just had it towed to the shop because I am at a complete loss. Any ideas?

I'm glad you got the car running again!
A few things to note, the codes you have on the car could be due to the fact that your battery was going out. This would throw codes and most shops neglect resetting the codes. As these codes are stored in the DME but will not throw a check engine light Another possibility is that your battery was worn down and causing the long cranks. With long cranks, you'll wear down the starter as it will be running with lower amperage and causing the starter to heat up Another thing to take a look at is to make sure that you alternator is recharging your battery properly. If it isn't you'll kill your battery and possibly even your starter again! Turn on the car and see what your battery voltage is at. With the car off, it should be around 12.6v. With the car running, you should see 14v+ |

I have a 2011 BMW 335i E90 N55
So I changed my spark plugs. My oil and oil filter. I also changed the Oil filter housing gasket. Once I was done i left the car idle and warmed the engine up to see if I had any oil leaks and I noticed I had one the the same area as the ofhg. I noticed oil pooling up near the oil filter. It was a small leak at first then as I'm about to back out I get in thr car and it tells me I'm low on oil to shut off the engine to avoid damage. So I got worried and turned the car off. I went and looked at the car and i lost about 1 or 2 quarts of oil. It went from a small leak to a big leak. There was oil on the hood as if the oil shot up so i knew it came from the oil filter area. Then to see the source of the leak i go to turn on the car again. But now it won't start it clicks and the lights on the dash flicker then it just stop completely. Any idea on whay i could be.? |
