Brake Fluid - GTA

Hello
I am looking for a good brake fluid for my 328. Are there any that you recommend and can be found in the GTA?

Also, what are the specs required for brake fluid?

For brake fluid unlike power steering you dont need anything special. Go to Canadian tire and grab the European OEM brand. I have been using that one for 2 years now. Break fluid is not as special as some other fluids such as coolant and power steering, oil, transmission etc..

Its important o change it however every 2 years. You can also grab BMW fluid from the dealer.

Brake fluid from the dealer isn't expensive either, ~$25 including HST.

From what I've read, all E9x use "Dot 4 Low Viscosity" and most stores sell standard "Dot 4". It isn't essential to use the "Low Viscosity" fluid, but ABS performance would likely be impacted

Germanparts.ca has TRW DOT 4 for $16.45 and free shipping today and tomorrow. Don't even need to go and get it.

@Nick.B

Damn, I wish I'd known that last week. I just did my brakes last weekend, and couldn't find low viscosity anywhere... Forum Link

It will probably cost you ~$100 for a brake flush if you don't do it yourself. It isn't hard to do yourself, especially if you have an automatic and not a manual.

A Motive Power Bleeder costs ~$150 and makes the job a lot easier. (Cheap way is to have a helper pump the brakes while you open the bleed screw)

I recently did a brake flush on my M3 & I paid $95 at Paradigm in Markham. They used BMW fluid.

Hello,

Have you had any luck?

If not, I get most of my work done in Newmarket.

BMW Newmarket

I've also used a mobile mechanic. He came right to my house, which was helpful, but it was for basic work, maybe not what you are looking for.
