E9X 325i (N53) Gutted back box?

Has anyone got videos/ thoughts on gutting the back of the 325i stock exhaust? I want a bit more sound but not too much.. my friend has done this on a 335i and sounds pretty good, quiet idling then some aggression throttling it. Just dubious to do it myself on mine as it can’t be reversed… ideas?

I presume you've tried all the usual channels (Google search, YouTube etc)? Having seen this done in the past, I think you will need a corrosion-free back box and someone with good cutting and welding skills.

Good luck.

Thanks Phil, I’ve been trying to find content but struggling, most people do back ix deletes rather than guts which to me seems a bit loud for my taste

I did something similar with my 325i. I got an exhaust shop to replace the back box with an aftermarket round back box. It sounds great. Not too loud and not obnoxious at all. Nice and quiet at idle but screams at 4k rpm. Reversible too.

I did the same as Keith325i on my N53 325i. I also twin-exited it. Think the exhaust place used a 12” rear silencer in place of the OEM one and it was a little louder but generally deeper in tone: it was a really good mod as it added that 6 cylinder tone to the car.

Look up DLV mod on various z4 forums, a lot of them are n52 so should sound similar and from what I can remember it's basically the same as the exhaust mod posted on here. Zedshed do the mod if you're up North, he's done it for a fair few z4 owners from what I read.

It did ring him up and he said he's done it to n53s too, although I still haven't gotten round to getting it done.

I've run my 330i with gutted back box and back box delete. Gutted sounded really nice not too loud. Backbox delete is way to droney below 2000 rpm
