E92 Logic 7 Coding

Hi All,

I had a 2008 E92 CIC (Europe) which I've recently retrofitted with the Logic 7 amp and speakers etc. the final piece is to recode the CIC head unit to talk to the amp. I have ncs expert installed. I've done some reading on the basics of coding.

Has anyone coded Logic 7 onto a CIC system before who might be able to offer some step by step instructions? I have read up on coding as above but this is my first attempt and I would just like to code Logic 7 and avoid changing anything else. For that matter any instructions would best be geared up for a coding newbie approach. All help very much appreciated

I have retrovited Logic 7 too with cic.

Are you already familiar with coding modules a little bit or only theoretically?

Following steps are needed.

1. Change your VO. So if you had $676 (HiFi System) in your VO remove it and add $677. Check this tutorial for it http://nutsofamily.com/wp-content/up...-CHANGE-VO.pdf
2. Then you have to code cic. Change the parameter AUDIO_SYSTEM_CIC value to top_hifi. Use NCS Dummy (http://revtor.be/ncsdummy/ncsdummy.pdf) and NCS Expert for it.
3. That's all with coding.

you can use INPA to test the Amp. You can play a test file on all or on each LS and verify everything is working.
View post on imgur.com

When you choose Logic 7 Amplifier as marked, then you can runt tests. It is called Enable or similar. I can not enter the menu, because I am not connected with the vehicle.
May be your amp is quit new, then it would work out of the box with cic. Just try it. I can also do remote coding with your, if you have internet at the vehicel.

But note. My CIC had the newest firmware with coding index 1A and the Logic 7 Amp was from 2005. So I had no sound from CIC. I had to flash Amp with WinKFP with the latest firmware. It took 10 minutes and then it had worked. If you have to update your Amp's firmware, it is also not a problem and I will give you steps how to do it.
Firmware upgrade is not needed for testing the amp with INPA. So Code the VO and CIC then if you have sound great and enjoy it. If not, test it with inpa. If it works, then we have to flash Amp. If you can not verify working Amp with INPA, search the wiring problem.

With regards
Lado

Hello,
I have the same problem.
The L7 was installed on the car, amplifier also installed, but when I start the car I have "no acoustic tones" message.
Also, the donor car have infiltrated water on the amplifier compartiment and I don't know exactly if is damaged or not.

How to update the formware on the amplifier?
I have the car from 2010 and L7 system is from 2006.
Thank you

Hi Alex. Did you manage to flash your L7 amp? I'm planning to retrofit the L7 as well, same case here, amp from 2007 and my e90 is 2011.

Hi guys here’s my two cents for flashing (programming to be precise) the Logic 7 amplifier with WinKFP (2008 E90 with CCC);
1. Proper wiring of the Logic 7 system (electrically and on MOST loop)
2. Code VO $677 to CAS and FRM.
3. Default code the headunit CAPPL, CAUDI, CTUNE, CHOST and CGATE.
You should be able to see the AMP module in the user identification field in INPA.
Note the 7-digit ZB number AMP.
Before flashing please do prepare your WinKFP with proper Daten files.
4. Enter you VIN in WinKFP. Enter ZB number to find the corresponding AMP module. Select the default configuration. Then click done then click program to flash. It takes about 10 min with K/D-CAN cable.
Then you should see in INPA/UIF, the AMP module with your VIN number and the programmed date.

Did you pull the original hifi harness out of the car or leave it in place?

Dumb question but if I have the base radio can I code Logic 7 EQ? Would love to be able to adjust the equalizer like I used to be able to on my old e92 with Logic 7. Now I'm just stuck with bass and treble only.

No its not possible. When you enable L7 in CIC, it will disable analog output from the headunit. In short, your speakers will not receive signal from the existing base setup

Not sure if you understand my question.

You had hifi in your car then installed Logic 7. Did you remove the hifi harness from your car when you installed the logic 7?

Or did you not have hifi and just installed the logic 7 harness?

Hi David. My car had base audio setup. And then i retrofitted Logic7 system. I added logic7 harness, entirely and wired it into my car.

I made a guide here https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1847099

Thanks, I will be doing the upgrade from hifi in my wife’s car. Was wondering if I needed to pull the hifi harness when I install the logic 7 harness.

You dont need to, and if you cant find a full L7 harness, you can splice/cut all of your current harness (speaker outputs) and wire it to the 20pin L7 amp socket. The new wires needed are for the center channel and rear door speakers.
