Programming Key Fob!!!
Hey just a quick question everyone. I have a fob for my car (that is not programmed for my car) and would like to program it (to work with my car) w/o taking it all the way to the dealer. Does anybody know how this can quickly be done? Thanks.

You use the left stalk thing (sorry I'm not very technical) and there is a button that goes up or down on it and a button that goes in on it. use the up button to browse through the menus until you get to the one that looks like a lock and then push the other button in to select it. then use the up down button to navigate through the different settings and the in button to select and change them.

Thanks for the info Nikki but I think we're talking about 2 different things. What I meant to say was how to program the keys to actually start and run the car.

Really??
So if I have any key fob from any car I can just insert for 20 seconds and it will program to the new car? I bought a used fob on eBay to try this before spending $200+ at the dealer and didn't think that was possible...are you sure you didn't get a key made for the car by the dealer? I'll try this later though, now im interested!

Yes, when I bought my car Monday, there was only one fob. They cut another key for a new blank fob, they stuck the blank fob in the car, and then it was programmed after a few seconds.

Yes, you program the key via the slot in the car.

So what's to stop someone from getting a blank key fob and jacking these cars?

You have to get into the car and activate it first. And for that, you need a good key in proximity of your blank key.

Okay that makes a little more sence...I didn't think there could be that obvious of a loop hole.

Wouldn't you need the key to be re cut in order to run and start the car?
