Air Scoops
Ok amigos bought this pair of scoops @ $49 a pair delivered to my home from TAIWAN!!!
As you can see, they are huge and yes made of ABS Plastic so no heat gets into our passaways. Now for the good part: 1) Cars does not sound louder(just incase) 2) car responds more quickly since air is taken afront of the car and NOT inside the radiator area!! 3) as far mpg's i cannot tell cause i change to American Petroleum a.ka. Phillips 76 I beleive a yes i have gained 1-2 mpg's with both combos. 4) car will gain more POWER after forced air into ducts at 65-70 mph, car really goes crazy the faster you go. 5) they come in black or red as i remember they are sold as Cyba Air Scoops , due a google search Here's the email address sales@dvisionwerks.com and speak to Derek BTW Amigos dont ask me about dyno's I dont have them ok!!

I had RPI Red scoops in my 135i, loved the look...as far as performance, probably helped at highway speeds. There was dyno testing done on an E60 M5; it's on m5board.com. They help a little, if anything.
I want to get these, looks good. Thanks for sharing. Any drilling required for the install? |

Problem is, on a turbo car, you're already forcing air into the intake. on our cars to the tune of 26psi. Therefore I doubt it helps much, if any. might just be a placebo effect you're experiencing.
Just like cold air is less of an issue on a turbo car because the air gets heated through the turbo as its compressed then cooled through the intercooler. On a naturally aspirated car, that's another story. |

135 its a plug and play item
Hooper true Dyno's wont give it justice , you will notice it on the highway 135 I read the thread they're stating around 12 whp , I tend to differ on that!! Got Diesel its not a placebo effect the car responds quicker since air is been scooped up from from of car and NOT the air that sits around the radiator, I CANNOT and WILL NOT attest to any whp gains!! the car is more responsive and specifically MORE at speeds in excess of 65-70 mph, dynos may or not prove us wrong. Lest not forget amigo my car is flashed by RENNtech and has an the WAGNER IC therefore YES it will produce some changes better than OEM

keep in mind adding turbulence to your airbox is not a good thing either. Some fluid dynamic studies will have to show us what the reality of the situation is. Being that you have a better IC that may help for sure. |

Logically I just can't wrap my head around how a scoop would work. In a normally aspirated engine I get it, air forced through the intake tract.
But in our cars we have two turbos, intercooler, and all sorts of kinks in the plumbing. After the turbos you will always still have the same boost pressures as before as it is computer controlled and monitored...so that said, how would scoops affect performance? |

I'm not sure how well it works but my guess is that since it is suppose to channel "cooler" air into the turbo, it makes more power. In the end, I still see it as an appearance mod, that's why they come in flashy colors right?

As I wrote above amigo they come in black red and I believe yellow typical race colors. And as u said it should give u more power at top end. I can actually feel the car move faster once I get to 65-70mph
