Default Code DME to remove 2FA3
Hello all,
I'm new to this forum but not new to car forums in general. Picked up a 2006 325i a little over a year ago now and am finally getting around to a number of updates, one big one being the 3 stage manifold upgrade with Bimmerlabs 330i tune. Got the 3 stage intake installed and all is left is to connect the DISAs and load the tune. I am literally about to go down in my garage and start (and thanks to some helpful how to videos from other posters on this forum I feel confident with the process). That said, the only aspect of this task that I am worried about is the error code 2FA3 that will undoubtedly come up upon completion. I've scoured the forums and everyone states "No worries, you can default code your DME to remove the code..." but I cannot find a "how-to" on that process anywhere. I'm relatively handy with coding (not an expert by any means) so I am curious if anyone can provide a how-to on using NCS Expert or other free to obtain/download BMW tool to "default code the DME" to remove that code. I downloaded BMW tools per the steps from Bimmerlabs for the 330i tune so I have the basics to do it I believe. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction? Big thanks ahead of time! |

I just coded the entire car back to default with NCS and that solves it. Instead of "process ECU", select "Process car" if I remember right.
The code is completely harmless anyway.

These are the steps off the top of my head.
- Open NCS Expert - Load Factory Coding Profile - Start, Chassis, E89, CAS, Back - Program ECU (should be F4) - Select the ECU (DME is 6BMOT) - Double check that FSW_PSW.MAN is empty, 0kb, in the C:\NCSEXPER\WORK folder (you can check with NotePad) - Make sure job is SG_Codieren and Execute Job, should take a couple of seconds. Once it says job ended close NCS Expert and clear codes with INPA/ISTA and you're good. This won't affect the Bimmerlabs tune by the way. |

you do realize that this error does nothing? That's why Hassmachine put very little or no effort into fixing it. I drove my Z4 for probably a year with this error before I finally just codded it out, because a could and maybe had nothing better to do that day.
The error was caused by a BMW stock file. I updated the program file and it wanted me to update the Coding. Even though there is nothing to code, its just BMW logic. |

I have a 2011 328I with an MSV80. When I try to default code the DME, after choosing 6BMOT, the "Enter SGET Data" window pops up. Its automatically populated with a CBD name "MSV70.C01" and SGBD name "MSV70.PRG". Is this correct even though my car has an MSV80?
