Only an idiot would change their oil every 10k and an oil that has reduced viscosity at 3k will have even more at 10k. As for how it does otherwise, well that depends.

My car has 98,000 miles on it and has used a quart of oil every 5k since new on the dealer oil and since then on M1 0W-40 and on Edge 0W-40. That said, oil consumption is no concern as it is completely normal and my car drives perfectly at 20+psi at 98k and I drive it very hard in South Texas where we see 130+ days of 100F weather.

But I have sent dozens of sample to blackstone, so I just suggest everyone do the same and see what oil does the best for them.

Why? If they have UOAs to back them up, why would you dump perfectly good oil any sooner than you had to?

Or, a more important question, why would you continue to purchase UOAs if OCIs are kept at ~5K w/ quart top offs to begin with? Waste of money IMO.

Anything car related is a waste of money.

The last UOA I had was Redline 5W-30 for 5,000 miles. Additive and viscosity seemed fine and they suggested running it for 7,500 miles.

It was my daily driver more or less so I’m sure the fuel dilution on the shorter trips killed some viscosity. Redline isn’t meant to be a long oci oil but 7,500 seems pretty good.
