Apparently, without even mentioning nor referring to ETS, I have upset the ETS followers. No, the lightest FMIC isn't the best because the stock one is the lightest and it is probably the worst. My point was that some of the FMIC's offered are oversized and therefore excessively overweight (again, not ETS)... some hide 1/2 of the core behind the bumper hiding from any airflow. Some have square end tanks, some use the stock restrictive connections. Buying the "best" FMIC is going to depend on efficient use of your bumper's air inlet hole, as well as a quality core and great flow characteristics. Trying to limit pressure drop is another area of consideration. My point was that, in my opinion, the AMS is one of the best FMIC's for a 335i which does a combination of all of those things without really having a huge negative side. It works well, isn't too terribly heavy, flows well... not the "best" in one area but great all around for the stock turbos.
Try to not get so offended in a discussion, not everyone is going to agree on every product. HPF and ETS I like as well; I would probably want to "upgrade" to an HPF FMIC if I ran bigger turbo/s depending on how well the AMS one held up to high boost numbers. But for now, on stock turbo's, I don't feel like I need the larger/heavier HPF. Zeph |

i think the weight is not important that much
and in my opinion if it was heavier it would be better to make the front side of the car face down so it will make down force while driving so it will make better air dynamic what you guys said about that ???? |

from the research I've done, i think the best intercoolers are for me.
1) Helix 2) Stett 3) ETS 7" 4) AMS I do not know about others so i cant comment.... Helix is having a group by now, so I am all over it since this is one of my next upgrades although all these talks of warranty being denied is making me have second thoughts to install these.

AMS - hands down, I was a test car for them and we did before/after dyno during install on stock tune and got 11 additional WHP. Gains and consistency are even better on higher boost applications

Good point Jeff. I actually installed a FMIC that weighted more because it balances out the fact that my fat ass isn't getting any lighter. So, if you're not worried about a few extra lbs and you want a good quality 7" FMIC that uses the stock C clips, check out Horse Power Freeks. I'm not saying it's the best, but the added weight will help in the corners on the track. LOL

That other pipe you are referring to is the "elbow" running from the intercooler to the chargepipe. The ETS kit also replaces this plastic pipe with one that is stainless steel and without dimples. |

Evolution Racewerks
ETS Helix AMS AA Big Tom You'll win with either one. Until they do a road/track comparison test, there's no real way to determine which one is 'the best.' Yeah, this company claims this and that one says that, and oh look, here's a pretty chart... I just don't buy into that crap. And no offense, some members are bias, so I dont buy theirs neither. They all do what they're designed to do, reduce heat soak, lower IAT, provide a decent gain, and have lower pressure drop than stock. Just pick one and enjoy.

OP- you live in bahrain where its scorching hot most of the year, but do you have a tune?
I would say get the ETS 7", it will support any boost on stock turbos, and will handle upgraded turbos too, plus you need the extra cooling efficiency in that country. This is coming from someone with NO FMIC at all, tuned at 15psi boost in a hot climate country too Lebanon. But from the countless threads about these questions well ive memorized them.
