SHORT shifter for E92 328
Hey guys,
This question is via my wife. She recently drove my 335i to work the other day and I had recently installed the BMW SSK in the car. Well she loved it so she said get me that for my car... Ok well I did and she absolutely hates it. She does love the shorter throws, no complaints there. Her complaint is in the height of the lever itself. She cannot stand how tall it is. Is there any brand shifter that significantly reduces the height of the lever itself? I know its going to be notchy and not as proficient as say the BMW SSK but she really doesn't care about that and frankly i'm tired of arguing with her lol. Thanks in advance again this is for an E92 328i (2007) |

Im not 100% sure if rogue ssk changes the height (others on this thread recommended Rogue to me over UUC's evo3), but I know the UUC evo 3 is adjustable and shortens the height of the knob (maybe even switching out the shift knob will help in the height department as well (I have the e46 ZHP knob in my car and I love it - still saving for the ssk)
** edit... sorry man I just did a little search but I can't find e92 328i ssks from uuc and rogue... maybe your search will prove better results!

Uuc is short in height
Rouge engineering is a bit less than stock B&m could be the cheapest. You can experiment with 330i ssk(not recommended, you notchy) E60 shift lever could be short as well Scheimann euro online store has its own fully adj kit. U cab buy and make it look like bmp ssk and adjust to be shorter, careful. Will be notchy this is universal |

Well Price doesn't matter really... I just want it to be nice. any reviews on the one that Active and UUC did together? is that pretty short? I had the UUC Evo 3 in my E90 330 and it was short but not that short.

The bmw one is the shortest as far as i know, being short is a bad thing as it reduces leverage and increases effort, a good ssk reduces the throw by changing the pivot point, not the height of the shifter
How did she like yours but hate hers? :/ Ed: 328 ssk's are identcal to 330.. And 325... And 128 Lol |

I thought UUC didnt make any for the 325/328/330? But Active did. (Maybe it changed in the last 2 years)
When I was shopping for it a while back, BMW's was the shortest. I thought of having mine chopped for an additional inch or two. Its a pretty easy job when you have access to the proper tools; or know somebody that does.

The way the bmwp part works is be physically shortening the lever, doesn't change the pivot point as such Ed: everywhere lists the dssr as being available for all applicable models |

http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=WB33&mospid=49513&btnr=25_0472& hg=25&fg=95 Google has nothing but this thread for said part number too I've been contemplating the uuc one myself, but the majority of forum posts i googled said their shift levers were horrid with poor construction, but their dssr is 11/10 and a worthy upgrade At $500 odd for the ssk with no boot or knob, im not sure i want to be a teat dummy personally |

I had it on order and the SSK was ready to be shipped to me (I have a 325i 06). I also ordered their DSSR for the car (both items were said to be in stock on their site). They sent me a tracking # but the item was never shipped. I called their office and they said they misprinted a label and that the DSSR wasn't ready because it wasn't the just right for their standard in quality.... I waiting about 1 or 2 months... I forget, and still nothing. I don't have anything against UUC (my brother has their EVO 3 and DSSR in his e46 and I love it).... but for them to say an item is in stock... but they don't have it is just a little weird to me. so take what I have with a grain of salt. all this happened the beginning of this year so maybe they have the DSSRs ready.

Edit TurnerMotrosport has DSSR only for sale, as well as UUC SSK, call them AA and UUC are the same unit, as far as i read RougeEngineering isnt reviewed be the shortest in height, its known for smoothness & deliberate shift feel B&M , i recall only an early 328i 2007 or 06 model had an issue BMW OEM z4/z3 shifters may be the shortest ones, and for 70-80 the cheapest experiement. Very notchy. there is an image somewhere comparing the height to e60, e36, and so on

I highly reccomend the factory SSK. I've played with the other shifters. Z3 is short but feels notch and started to grind no normal shifts. I tried the RE SSK and it didn't center correctly and was really tall. Shifts were smooth but then it became incredibly loose and had a lot if slack. The factory SSK was only $85 for the lever only. Best feeling and smoothest shifting by far.
