GoPro Hero2 HD was released a month ago. I bought the Motorsports kit for $269 with 2 batteries, sold my old Hero HD for ~200, not a bad deal.

The Hero2 now includes an external mic connection, a navigation menu in plain english (finally!) and blinking recording lights on 4 sides, an app to load firmware , among other things. There's also an odd wifi/remote module that can stream live your video to your computer/phone.

I already tested the external mic connection, works like a charm with a powered external mic, no more wind buffeting noise for my 2012 videos!!!

I had the GoPro HD Motorsport edition last year and also jumped on this deal. Just bought a new 8gb micro sd card w/ adapter from Amazon Basics. May try to do some PIP with this and the GoPro or use the helmet mount for clubs that don’t allow external cameras. Too bad this version of the Contour won’t let you hack for 60fps though…

yeah i read about that on the Countour forum...with them saying the hardware doesn't support it. it also seems that most of the mounting options they have don't fit the Roam properly. every mount i've looked at and read the comments on had users complaining that the mount didn't fit the ROAM properly. i'm a little bummed about that....but what can i expect for $89 i guess.

nonetheless...used the camera for snowboarding a few weeks ago...just held the camera in my hand since it was soo small....vids came out pretty decent.

I didn't think it was that bad. I tested out one of my mini-tripod mounts I use for my digicam and it worked just fine so I'd imagine any standard screw-in mount would work. The helmet mount looks ok but I admit aside from that, options look limited compared to the GoPro.
