I just bought an e90 from an owner who had already installed the 8.8” unit on a car with CCC. As everyone else has experienced, Bluetooth streaming is pretty bad...it sounds like no one has found a good solution there. Has anyone tried a USB or MicroSD connected directly to the AVIN? Is sound quality close to stock sound quality?
Also, in my experience when I’m on a Bluetooth call I’m totally stuck on the Android Bluetooth/phone screen and I can’t switch out to look at Nav (google maps)? Has anyone figured out a way to do this, or are you just stuck on that screen any time you’re on a call? |

Is the poor sound quality gen1? Or are people referring to poor sound quality on gen2? About to pull the trigger and upgrade Cic profession in e92 to the gen2 but only if sound quality is Good!
Any help much appreciated |

I took a chance and pulled the trigger on this unit:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-...ceBeautifyAB=0 It is a 32G ROM, 2GB model running Android 7.1. Otherwise, appears to be similar/same unit AVIN is selling including the BMW ID6 interface. It's a gamble. Don't know how their support will be. I'll report in when I receive it. |

The old/cheaper units use the TDA7388 and the audio quality is not good at all. A constant problem on these units and as such there are modders who replace it with a Pioneer amp chip: https://forum.xda-developers.com/and...grade-t3589587 |

I have one of the ones designed for the E90. Sound quality is bob on, but obviously I can't speak for the unit you've linked.
My only issue with Ali is that it's going to come from China, isn't it? Are there any that you can source from the UK with a warranty etc? |

The original Joying units used bad amp chips that apparently produced a very mushy middly audio output. You can EQ them to sin, but the output is still very compressed. The newer units have an in-built DSP-lite and contain a superior amp chip, hence the audio quality surpasses probably stock OEM. I know there will be Alpine's and Pioneer's out there which sound better but they ain't going to offer the same functionality. I have to say, the functionality they offer is unsurpassed. |

http://xtrons.co.uk/pb7890bp-android...-3-series.html Both of these units have it. I have the 7 inch, Blueh has the 9 inch screen. To be honest, if you don't need a CD, I'd go for the bigger screen. |

if you go into the About, you can usually identify them from the MCU. There should be 3 letters which indicate the manufacturer. https://forum.xda-developers.com/and...-mtcd-t3476880 |

It has been glitchy and will sometimes boot android and sometimes boot OEM. Sometimes it will boot OEM & will give a "No Signal" message on the android side. I emailed AVIN and they sent me an update that supposedly fixes that issue. This was earlier today so I haven't had a chance to download and apply the update.
