PP82DSP and Technic Harness, what do I have and can I run 2ohm undeseats?
Mostly I just want to know if I can run the SWS 8xi 2ohm underseat midwoofers, but I also would like help understanding just what power feeds which speakers in my setup.
I have a Bimmertech sourced PP82DSP and a Technic Harness circa 2015 for my 2011 E92 with HiFi (not Top HiFi), and everything works beautifully. The only easily understandable thing just looking at my Technic Harness is that there are no wires going to the "H" pair of connectors. The E, F and G pairs all have wires, as does all but the right most 4 pins of the "System Connector" section. PP82DSP specs say "All channels @ 4ohms ....... 8 x 55 / 110 watts". With a HiFi head unit connected through the OEM connector in the trunk, I believe I only drive 6 channels (fronts, rears, underseats). What kind of power am I sending to those 6 channels? Thanks! |

Are you using stock speakers and which sound system did you start out

Base system and 676 system speakers are not that good especially the underseats. Each speaker location is listed as 2 ohm in the Hi Fi 676 system . The specs for 2 ohm and 4 ohm power are listed in the Amp/Dsp manual. I believe every channel on the 82dsp has the same output. It's up to you to know where the wiring goes. You can bridge channels for underseats I believe or you could go active on the front doors if you get a better component set and run an extra set of wires to the doors. The manual for the 82dsp can be found on the audiotec helix website. Technic harness should be labeled as to which speaker goes where. Last edited by ctuna; 07-21-2023 at 04:56 PM.. |

I started out with 676 (with a 663 Professional HU). I am currently with the stock 676 speakers, but after years of thinking about it, have the final bits of Individual Audio/EPS option 752 speakers on the way to round out my cobbled together set. I am in the midst of mapping out the wires and connections between the car, the Technic Harness, and the PP82DSP. I believe I have most of the connections at least partially mapped out. One thing that seems weird is that the "E" outputs from the PP82DSP seem to be mapped through the Technic Harness to pins 39 and 40 on the OEM harness. I haven't taken it apart yet, but I don't think there are wires behind 39 and 40. How likely is that? If E is really not attached to anything, could I really bridge the 4 channels (E, F, G and H) into 2 to drive a pair of 2ohm SWS 8xi's (while the other 4 channels are driving 4 ohm speakers)? I can't seem to find any mention of bridging on the PP82DSP. Thanks again! |

I would call Audiotech Fisher just to be sure on the bridging. Although that amp/dsp should be worlds different than Hi Fi . there are threads on that 82dsp here if you look for them . There pinouts are not as well documented on that model as the newer ones. Last edited by ctuna; 07-22-2023 at 09:25 AM.. |
