Well I screwed up using a 12 point against my common sense. Reason I did was because there's no space to fit my ratchet and a socket because of the transfer case and thought it would be fine. Turns out not. I'll be getting 6 point wrenches in the future.
As of now I hope I can use a punch to bang this thing off |

it's already buggered.
Put a flat jaw set of vice grips on it as hard as you can, smack them with a deadblow, it will pop. edit: make sure you put the vice grips on the right way. |

Also, if your GM6 pan gasket is leaking, you can "snug-up" the 17 pan bolts. The bolts are Steel; the Trans Case is NOT magnesium; NO TTY bolts. Tighten opposing diagonal bolts, similar to "Star Pattern" recommended for wheel bolts. Gaskets compress over time, and snugging up after 10+ years can still work if Bolts are NOT TTY (Torque-to-Yield). George |

Yes. That is what I did @ 163,000 now my tranny is a mess. Best to drain fluid save it change filter pan use a very fine paint filter to strain old fluid and reinstall the old fluid Please talk to a trans shop who does a lot of zf6hp19 trans repairs. Before you do anything.
