It's sad an event like 9/11 is what brings the best in people out and also the worst. We all know about how so much suffering has been brought about by the few who are just evil to the core. And then we all see examples of the best in humanity. People who selflessly sacrificed their own lives to help others without hesitation. It is these heroes which gives me hope that someday there will be harmony in this world.

But then I see examples of just plain selfishness, stupidity, or just plain ignorance. I hope we as a society can progress from the lowest common denominator. Examples of this are those that carry on at Ground Zero thinking it is some amusement park or fun tourist attraction. Smiling, laughing, and doing selfies at Ground Zero to me is just plain disrespect. I'm glad I didn't see much of that today at the Pentagon Memorial.

Then there were the idiot squids who were riding with in my group to the Pentagon. These two Darwin candidates kept slowing and speeding up so they could fool around, rev their engines, and do wheelies. Of course these morons broke off from the group as we go to the exit to turn off towards the Pentagon. It was one of those times I wanted to ride up next to these idiots and just push them over. If they wanted to fool around do it on another ride.

And then there was a former coworker when I was onsite as a Federal Contractor. All she thought about the days after 9/11 was how the Feds where going to beef up security to protect her a$$. She sent pictures around in internal email with people falling from the Towers. Really? I guess things are great when you collect a pay check due to the job you have with highest security clearance. But when the reality smacks you in the face that your coveted position does come with risks, well, now you panic.

And finally, I had so much disgust of what I saw at Ground Zero after most of the debris had been cleared out. There were these scumbags that turned the area into a flea market/bizarre hocking their obvious non sanctioned 9/11 T-shirts and trinkets. It just made me sick to my stomach.

I just hope all the sacrifices and the suffering of 9/11 doesn't get diluted as the years tick on by.

They scream what ever has been used to brainwash them to attack other humans. Come on, we did the same thing with Hitler back here not so long ago (and finland has more examples if you need them in our history).

All I'm saying is that the world is fucked up right now and that the traditional methods are not working out for us for solving this.

I'm an atheist too, so religion couldn't be used as a binding tool for me. I can however see myself gearing up if jalapeno farmers all would quit tomorrow.

You can read and write and if you lost your job, you could easily live on the knowledge you have by now. Could you do the same if you didn't have those skills and if you'd spent your life hungry and bitter?

I agree. This is a war about the direction the world will take. Will we move forward or back into the dark ages.

A quick reminder...most of the history of the world is comprised with the boot of Dictator/King/Despot on the neck of the common person with the help of various henchmen.

The experiment in freedom is still relatively new and fragile. We have had 3 major instances in less than 100 years that would have resulted in the loss of freedom for billions and we are now in our 4th.

I truly hope everyone understands what is at stake here and that 9/11 provides clarity for those who forget or wish to rewrite what happened.

I'm sure your country is more advanced than mine is, but it took us 30 years of free education after the wwII to get gay rights right. And before that we had had women voting for 70 years.

And after all those things education is free for everyone here. Everyone.

I have dyslexia. To a level where I should not be able to read at all. Because of our system i can do it in four languages and though I can't write a full sentence with a pen to save my life, I'm doing pretty well for myself in real life.

We keep leaving useful people behind and then we wonder why they resent us. I know for sure my life would've been different if I hadn't had the resources I got.

A little bit of both. I believe that everyone should seek the highest level of education possible for their individual situation. I believe that being educated gives one the foundation to make good decisions but it isn't the end-all, be-all. It is a foundation. Everyone who has traveled knows that most people only want a few things: safety, the opportunity to make an honest living, and a place to raise their family. These are the basics.

I also believe that there are some really bad actors out there that can't be negotiated with and have to be dealt with harshly, swiftly, and decisively. No appeasement, no BS. At the end of the day the people sitting with the appeasers aren't going to be the ones putting their asses on the line, it's some kid my daughter's age while the REMFs are having a cocktail. Generally with the despot they are appeasing.

Look at ANY of the western european nations that have taken in "refugees" for decades......Sweden is a PERFECT example.....they have been taking in unsustainable numbers from islamic nations since the 1970's

What do they have now?

No go zones......these people refuse to integrate into Swedish society despite being afforded unbelievable opportunities

Instead...they choose congregate and do the same thing they did in their countries of origin....they are essentially an islamic country complete with sharia law within the country that was generous enough to take them in and give then very generous benefits to get on their feet

What have these people given the Swedes?
