3IM "4th DISA Stage Disable"

Didn't want to hijack the other thread. I can't find any threads devoted to this topic. Unsurprisingly searching for "4th stage disa disable" is not specific enough.

Part of the BPC tune? Can anyone share technical details?

it's not really a "stage" but by default the DME closes both flaps at 6900rpm. the 265bhp cars close it at 7500 (which means never, since the redline is still 7k).

Any good tuner would have that disabled. It's been known for a few years now.

yeah, but I'm afraid it doesn't make a very big difference. As far as "any tuner" as far as I know only me and BPC even know where the settings are.

i have bpc's awesome MILVs/Alpha N tune, I just feel that nasty drop off even with the red line being "extended" for lack of a better term... Tired, sorry

Just think of it this way,

The engine pulls really great to 6,700. Considering it starts pulling several thousand RPM below that, you have a really nice long powerband.

you're not wrong!
just saying, having it push all the way to the limiter, would be thicc.

FWIW the TIS says the redline in our cars is 6500 RPM

It's not that I really believe it in this case, it's just that it's the only example of an incorrect redline in the whole TIS (as far as I've found) and I can't think of a compelling reason why this would happen. It's not a simple typo either, because the permissible constant RPM (6300) is where it would be if the redline were truly 6500 rpm. I wonder where the discrepancy arose.

I can find lots of literature re: 6500 RPM power peak but other than "the n52 electronic rev limiter is set at 7000 rpm" I am at a loss for references to 7K.

Clearly the gauges indicate a 6750/7000 RPM constant/max.

The redline is programmed at 7k (give or take 20 rpm), that's what the engine will do. What the gage etc. says is meaningless really, since it's not perfectly accurate. On Auto cars, it's lower but only because the AT trans shifts before redline.
