Serious problem with headlights after AngeliBright (AiB) failure

Check out the first post on page 3 of this thread, it explains most of the issue:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=356095&page=3

After further inspection of why my outer ring was not lighting up properly, I found that the passenger outer acrylic angel eye tubing is stained brown from the smoke emitted by the overheating driver pack of the AngeliBright. I am assuming this component is permanently damaged and the only way to replace this is to buy a new headlight. Is this true, or would it be possible to replace only the acrylic angel eye component? Please don't tell me to send my lights to OSS...I can't afford it and can't put my car out of commission for 1-2 weeks.

In addition to the damage in the immediate headlight compartment (as seen on page 3 of the linked thread) this is the damage I believe is causing the issue (poorly lit outer ring angel eye) - you can CLEARLY see that the INNER PART of the passenger outer ring angel eye is stained brown from electrical smoke. I think you can all understand the severity of this problem since the headlight is close to a $1000 part.

Please note: I already contacted the appropriate people about this issue but have yet to receive a response.

i think the only way to fix this is to open the headlight and change the ring.

yikes. was this due to a poor installation or is the unit failing?

There is only one way to install it. It was due to the driver pack of the unit overheating and failing.
